Default PSE Install without the button, open valves all the time

Hello all! I apologize, another PSE install question. Is it possible to install this, with the valves being open all the time, without having the button installed or any dealer programming? I am interested in doing it this way to save a trip to the dealer. Car is a 2013 Carrera Cab. Thanks all.

If you don't need the button, then just purchase an aftermarket exhaust. It'll be "open" all the time.

Very easily do-able, but like RP4S911 says, wouldn't it make more sense to just get a different exhaust system?

not necessarily because i want the sport exhaust made by Porsche for the vehicle. I am a "factory parts everything" person. On the other hand, I am considering the sharkwerks exhaust below because the price is enticing, installation looks very easy, and seems to do everything i want (ideal exhaust flow, pops/crackles, tiny performance increase).

Yes, you can do that. The valves are normally open style.

So i just spoke with my local porsche dealer and they claim that 991.1 sport exhaust's are on months long back order from Porsche, and even if ordered from suncoast, unless they have them in stock it is going to be months long wait. Looks like i will be going aftermarket for this. Its going to be either Shark werks or is anyone familiar with Top Speed pro-1 sport exhaust kits? They also have a bolt-on, no-valve center exhaust for the base 991.1 carrera, which is exactly what i am looking for.

Just my 2c here but I like having the option to turn things off for freeway driving. The exhaust isn’t really loud but it does make a difference. Aftermarket exhaust’s are great but I’ve had some terrible drone in them that I wish I could lose in the freeway. I’m 58 and love a good note but too much of a good thing…….

@mikescayenne If you want it 'on/open' all the time you don't need the button - by default the valves are open. The vacuum line attached to the center exhaust operates to close the valves, so if you simply pull it off it will never close the valves. I know this discussing with my Tech when troubleshooting mine and discovered the tube had become brittle and broken off, thus 'on/open' all the time.

Also I've seen several of the stock PSE exhaust for sale in the past year (in Rennlist Marketplace) so one option is to keep on eye out for them, they do pop up (sometimes more than 1 for sale at a time).

I just did the Top Speed Pro-1 valved exhaust. Very happy with it. If you don't hook up the valves then it is open/loud mode.
Quality was great and install was pretty straight forward and easy.

I had a 2012 991 base cab and bought the Sharkwerks x pipe which you linked to and it was great. The dealer installed it for me when the car was still under warranty and it took less than an hour. I constantly received compliments about the exhaust and with the top down it was really cool. You would be very foolish to buy anything other than that as none will give you a better sound although some people do say that a top end exhaust system for around $8k might be better but that is a significant investment as installation would be a lot more. I would not buy anything from Fabspeed as they completely dropped the ball and did not stand behind their product when I bought quad exhaust tips from them.

The Akrapovic system is arguably the best sounding system out there. Obviously this is all subjective. AND I am biased.

I ended up going with the top speed pro-1 exhaust except it has no valves. After watching your video I’m happy I went this route, your car sounds amazing!!!! Except I didn’t get the full exhaust just the center muffler, I want to start there and see how loud it is first. It already came, and I’m getting it installed thursday, 3/9. Will post rev video after install. Thank you everyone for your input!
