This is why you want an extended warranty.

How can something that went through "rigorous evaluation" start breaking in three months. Makes me think they just slapped CPO or extended warranty on it and let Porsche NA handle the fallout.
And while it is good that youre not paying out of pocket for these things, who has to time to deal with this

I was firmly in the self-insure camp until I bought a 911 (2017 C2S). No major issues but in one year of ownership and just 4000 miles, I've had close to $10000 of services and repairs incl. a water pump, dynamic engine mounts and brakes. And labour rates are low here compared to the US. I'm happy to self-insure my Macan S (which I service myself) but I think when CPO warranty is up on the 911, I'll need to extend it for peace-of-mind.

Insurance
Is a pool of risk to protect individuals against catastrophic loss. An engine or transmission in a 991.1 would consititute a catstrophic loss to me at present so I insure. I have no insurance on my 2023 Bronco. Worst case is a motor and 5k all in for a low mileage junk yard replacement.

Wow, those extended warranty companies must be bankrupt ! I wonder why they are constantly aggressively marketing their insurance ? I once met a guy who collected on an extended warranty on a toaster, he thinks everyone should buy one. Life insurance for some people makes sense in case they are the one in a million to die young. One buys it knowing the insurance company is making a lot of money but you don't care because it is the only way you can protect your family. My rule is don't buy insurance unless the worst outcome would be devastating to you. It's very likely to be money wasted.

nope...not even close. they make plenty of money for all involved. you will know when they stop making money because they won't be available anymore. they wouldn't be selling them if they weren't making plenty of profit. some companies "blacklist" certain cars. Rovers, exotics, and such. as long as Porsche coverage is still offered, you know for sure they're still making money

$2300 dollars for 2 hours of labor at most is crazy!

Cost is less of an issue. I just hate someone messing with my vehicles, sort of like letting the fox loose in the hen-house. Plus I know it is done right. I can't believe the cost of labor and the part. I would have fixed it myself, but then I have never bought an extended warranty.
I came across this the other day. I had to chuckle.

The only company I have seen without a blacklist is Freedom Warranty, they obviously have year and milage limits, but we actually made a bespoke policy for a Bugatti customer of ours, it was a very cool experience.

Another law of large numbers/peace of mind vs prideful self-insure/DIY/gambler blah blah blah thread.
So many threads on RL where people argue with one another over personal choice.
To each his own.
