Steering feel of 991.2 C4GTS vs. Carrera T

Variations of this question have been asked before and the threads I found were enormously helpful. I had a slightly different question. I drove a Carrera T and loved the steering feel, but realized I probably need AWD for living in Denver and having a daily driver. I've found an interesting .2 C4GTS for sale in another state and am tempted to take the plunge, but am unsure how the steering will feel. I drove a 2020 GT4 and the steering was too light for my personal taste, which made me wonder how the .2 911 Carrera cars' steering feels. I currently have a .1 C4S. Can anyone comment on how the steering feel on a .2 C4GTS might compare to a T? I know it will be different since it's AWD and heavier, and I'm ok with that. I just want to figure out if it will be too light (like the '20 GT4).
Thanks in advance.

To my hands, yes, the T felt fairly different from my .1 4S. My car's steering is still "heavy" and "direct." The T's steering had the same weight, but felt more direct and accurate, if that makes sense. I feel like an auto journalist - just trying to avoid the overused term "telepathic"...

I drove a few cars prior to getting my C4GTS here in the UK. The steering on the 2WD cars felt like it had the same weighting and ratio, but the notable difference was the quality of feedback to the wheel, which was better (perhaps even revelatory compared to any other car I've owned) in the 2WD cars compared to the 4WD ones. I still went with 4WD due to mine being a daily, admittedly not with Denver-style winters, but with plenty of cold and wet/damp/greasy days (something the UK excels at).
I won't lie: I'm still tempted by a 2WD manual car at some point, but while mine's a daily, I think I made the right choice.

Thanks for this feedback. That's helpful. Sounds like you still like the steering in your car, even though it's not quite at the level of a RWD car. That's what I was hoping to hear.

Was the T equipped with RAS (rear axle steering)? The steering rack is quicker and the car feels a lot more agile so equipped.

Yeah from what I have heard/read another part of the T "special sauce" was a quicker rack. I assumed it was carried over from the 911R development? Like the more aggressive rear spoiler angle?

I drove a .2 base, T and GTS, all over 3 days when searching for a replacement for .1 GTS PDK
The steering on all 3 was the same as my '15 GTS PDK with CLs and semi-sport Alignment.
.2 GTS felt the most agile as it had RAS, but steering feel was same as my .1 GTS with better than OEM alignment and N0 PS4S tires (all of those factors matter)
.1 GT3 steering feel was a noticeable step above my .1 GTS and .2 base, T and GTS but thats not apples to apples
hope this helps

Yep! Sorry, you are right, I meant to add its only if you have RAS... maybe its got some sort of additional calibration that's T specific like centering the shift linkage between 3rd and 4th on the T vs others? Probably not would be my guess though.

Also, for what it's worth, when I drove a new 992 GT3, it took the crown for electric steering feel. Unmatched for any electric rack I've tried so far. That's a completely different league and set-up, though.

RAS is SO good. It shrinks a 911 feel to something vastly smaller. It’s Cayman-like. RAS+T is something I think is worth experiencing. If you’re ever in the Boulder area, you’re welcome to drive mine.

I do think a lot of the difference that you are feeling in the T is from the RAS. It was available as an option in the 991.2 generation but not the 991.1. It comes standard in the GT3. My 991.2 GT3 Touring has far superior steering compared to my 991.1 GTS. The reasons for that are likely multi-factorial but there is no question the RAS has a lot to do with it. The RAS makes the car feel smaller, more nimble and its ability to turn (gradually or sharply) at speed is light years ahead of the capability of the non-RAS-equipped 991.1 GTS.

This is new information to me. I’ll dig into part numbers to confirm.

Also, the 4GTS I'm looking at does have RAS, so that's a plus.
