seized spark plugs

Last year there are two long threads on Planet9 on the 987 forum about a similar broken spark plug from “caymanbob75””. The first was “Broken spark plug” and follow up was “Broken plug update”. IIRC he tried soaking, heat, cold, drilling and screw extractors and finally used a drill guide and was successful in removing the plug without removing the head. I don’t know if you have similar access to your plug as he did on his 987 Cayman, but you might give it a read and possibly save $$$ if your an avid DIY’er or find an Indy that would be on board with his method.

What was obvious from the spark plug DIY that one of our members wrote up, was that the proper angle of the socket and extension relationship to the plug well is not as expected for me. The extension was not parallel to the walls. Unless this was due to droop between the socket and extension but I think the member made it clear that this wasn’t the case.
OP, best to you and please keep us posted.

Hope the rest go better.
I am realizing that my RX-7 plugs are going on 9 years, with less than 1000 miles At least the oil has been changed.

My machinist suggested using a 12.5 mm drill to clean out most of the plug save for the threads. Bought a 14mmx1.25 spark plug tap
Used a tap and the remaining threads chipped out. This was years ago on an unimportand fastener in the 993, but I hate helicoils and Nut-Serts. Original threads are intact. Took my time and did it right. Same on another fastener that took over 4 hours to remove. In both cases, thanks to aluminum oxide for causing me grief.

Any time that I have been unable to get the socket perfectly straight due to poor access to the hole it has only ended up in the plug breaking at the outer ceramic part. never seen one snapped off at the threads. problem here is the spark plug steel is a lot harder than the hole threads aluminum. guess which one is likely to strip out when you heave on it?

Having looked at the two YouTube videos in post #22, more of them popped up on YouTube and some are very good.
If I was there, I'd remove it. There is plenty of access having removed my plugs last summer.
