A quick 3700 dollars
Well some idiot hit and cracked my drivers headlight assembly and of course drove away, while I was eating lunch. Have to get the whole assembly but they can transfer the control module.

Not sure, I was eating my lunch….car not in sight…when a young kid walked up and asked if it was my Porsche…I said yes, then he said a truck was backing out of a space and hit it. We walked outside to my car, and the kid and his dad told me they saw it happen…two people exited the truck…took a look and then got back in and took off. They did not get a plate or anything. Last time I go to this place. I think it was lifted truck and as they backed up the hitch hit the lens. The PPF took a bit of a scrape but saved the paint. But yes, own up to it. I’m guessing the labor will be about 1 to 2 hours. I live in a condo building so I really can’t do it myself. The bumper comes off and I think the control module needs to get transferred and of course the beams need adjusted and aligned , which I guess is done with the Porsche diagnostic tool. I’m not bothering to make a claim, cause it’s not worth it and my deductible is high, and it’s the end of the year.

No hardwiring, no fuss. Only thing you need to do is tuck the wires nicely.

Good idea....I forgot that Porsches can be hate and douche magnets to some idiots.....that don't care when they damage them, either not on purpose or on purpose. I had a 997.2 C4S get egged while I was out eating once, luckily, I had a applied a ceramic coating that mitigated the eggs and I had spray cleaner in the car with rags to get it off before it dried too much. What cameras do you have?

The 911 has a low profile. Especially the front end. I can see how a lifted truck missed your car in their mirror.
Best bet is to park far and away. Spots on the corners or edges work well. Even analyzing the types of cars in the vicinity can help too.
Even if you catch them and make a police or insurance claim, it's going on your carfax. On a small claim like yours, chasing diminished value won't get you squat. Lose lose lose situation. You get no sympathy because of the car you're driving.
Always remember. Most of the time people have an F-U attitude when they see your car.
Good luck.

Thanks. All very true points. Least the paint and body did not get damaged as that means respray and that goes on carfax with insurance claim. I’ll have to find a PPF person to fix the little places that got squished a bit. I’ll leave it in the garage till the part comes in and I get it fixed. I ordered it already and it should be here in three days. I was concerned in that it’s the headlight with the factory blackout look. I was worried given supply shortages it’d be on back order. But it’s not.

this is cool they sell the battery pack. Quite frankly they should all have that as some people hate doing the hardwiring. Mine is a thinkware, not the best but works.
to the OP… if you replace the broken piece out of pocket, you don’t think the shop will report it
in your CARFAX?
