Rennlist, I am in the process of negotiating a 2019 Carrera T with 8000 miles on it from a dealer. Certified preowned, 18 way sports plus, sc, led’s, no sunroof and Bose. Car is pretty mint. Just the front ppf on the bumper needs replacing. What should I be paying? Msrp is $118k
I have two comments, with the best intention to help you.
1. That T is the least T possible. PDK, no T interior, 18 way seats, Premium Plus…. That was clearly a T spec’d by a dealer. With those specs, it would make little difference to buy a base or an S.
2. That Blackbook tool is not that good. The fact that it ‘adds $2,000’ for auto trans vs a Manual is an indicator that it is not considering these are sports cars, not economy vehicles. Manual transmission on a sports car commands a higher price on the secondary market, on a regular vehicle the opposite is true.
Again, no offense intended, just an honest opinion.
I would say based on the mileage, and if the vehicle is in otherwise new condition with proper history/carfax, right around $100k for that. The T is a sweet car.
10% or maybe little more below MSRP for an auto with <10k miles. Give it a small bump for CPO, but my guess is the dealer is asking around $115k and won’t budge. Good luck. If you like the spec then it’s a good fit for what you like then don’t worry, but I agree that given the transmission and seats and the premium that a T often demands, I would also consider looking at S or well spec’d base Carrera. Once you put a PDK (+70lbs) and 18-ways (+60lbs), then that really negates the weight savings available at a baseline for a T, without taking advantage of the lightweight stuff only available on the T (PCCB, LWBS).
Totally understand and appreciate the help on this one. They are asking $112k but are open to offers. That being said, I hear what you’re saying about the overall reason for the T and the options that this car has in it. Pretty much just weighing it back down again. I am going to throw a $100 K number at them and see what they come back with. Otherwise I will just move ahead looking for an S.
Just echoing a prior post, I’m of the mind that a PDK trans kinda flies in the face of the ethos of the T, imho.
I think they’re wonderful and when I was searching for mine was cross shopping T and S coupes (was open to both). As it turns out the stars aligned and I ended up with an S that was spec’d like a T.
You can’t go wrong with either but I’d opt for a manual in the T.
My last car was a manual and really kind of done with the shifting for a while. Looking to just hit the gas now, lol.
Nothing wrong with that - if that’s the case you can open up the search to a base 991.2 Carrera with PDK as well. Those are plenty quick for street driving and can be tuned to absurd power pretty easily. Good luck with the search. 👍
There was 2018 "T" that sold on Bring a Trailer yesterday for $120K plus throw in buyers fee and your at $125K. Sticker price was $136k. It had ceramic brakes, carbon fiber seats and most important manual transmission. My guess he isn't going below $110K. Rule of thumb that proved very accurate in my experience on the 991.2 is take $12K-$14K off original MSRP for a CPO completely up to date on all maintenance with new tires and manual transmission.
Personally I wouldn't want a "T" with PDK, 991.2 PDK's with under 20K miles all day long $85K +/-$5k. Manual add $10K easy. I made offers on five 991.2, 4 dealers, 1 individual. All are still for sale except one I bought and one has dropped to what I offered at beginning of October. 2017 911S manual transmission. Started at $130K last May and now at $102,500., I offered $100K (Sticker was $115K) 14K miles and flawless no CPO at Bently dealership. I found a 2017 911 with sticker of $115K go for $83K with 21K miles. No CPO, decent tires, silver, PDK. .
On BAT usually they sale right at $13K below original sticker on the 991.2"s with manual transmissions. White is a decent color, silver more desirable, yellow the hardest to sale.
I know of a 2017 911 with manual transmission with 7K miles and SHOWS AS BRAND NEW. Not many options and just had $4K worth to maintenance performed by Porsche. It is Yellow he is at $88K. I would have zero concerns buying it but didnt want yellow.
Just saw your MSRP at $118K, problem is you have PDK which hurts value. My rule is for manual transmissions. Try $100lK I would not want it since I can get the same non-T car for $90K/
Hmm. Would be open to a CPO base Carrera with some nice options and PDK. Do you know of any in the tri-state area that are selling a good prices. I usually look on the porsche CPO website for inventory. Distille or that I was considering with the T also had a 2020 Carrera S with super low miles, PDK but had no sport exhaust or sport Chrono and they were asking $125 for it. I think that is a good price for an S however I feel like if I decided to sell this car down the road it would be a very hard sell.
