Check Engine Lights Came On ... ...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Took the car to the dealer to get a diagnosis. They came back with:
"Transmission, Comments: Upon inspection it was found the car to have 3 trouble codes for the transmission about failed sensor inside the transmission and failure of gear valves inside are stuck in pressurized position causing the transmission to have cooling issues". Also came back with:
"Oil Separator, Comments: When inspecting the underbody and inspecting really close it was found that there’s a bit of oil leaking around the oil separator", AND
"Coolant Leak, Comments: Upon inspection found a hose at the front of the engine at the passenger side to be leaking coolant", AND
"Front Radiator 2 Assembly, Comments: Upon inspection found a trouble code for an intermediate failure of the fan 2 for the front radiator".
The dealer is telling me I need a new transmission for $20,000. The oil separator fix is $2,000, the coolant leak is $500, and the radiator is $1700.
Not to mention I need brakes for $2,300 times 2, couple tires, 3rd brake light issue, for a grand total of:
$29K.
I am attempting goodwill on the transmission since I bought it used with 30K miles, currently have 85K, so I only put on 55K. And I have had it routinely serviced at the dealer. Since it has gone out of warranty, it seems everything is breaking. I just had my actuator snapped and fixed it for $1500, and now they are saying the control module needs to be replaced.
My question is, should I try to sell the car at an auction with a bad transmission, or should I find a reputable transmission shop and get it fixed? If I get it fixed, should I get a new, used, or refurbished transmission? And what should I look for or ask when buying a 991.1 PDK 7-speed transmission?
I have a couple of places I can bring it to get checked out but fear they will say it is not repairable. One is a shop that offers a warranty on the transmission, another is an independent shop through a friend, and the other is an independent shop that I brought it to for a few oil changes. The car is currently at the dealer waiting on goodwill.
I am in the Southern California area.
Many thanks!!

Burning Brakes
Check with LA Dismantler for a used PDK. If going the used route I’d see if you can find one with a 30-90 day warranty on it minimum. I did same with an E92 M3 donor engine and of course it had issues. They basically agreed to give me the engine core free and then I had it rebuilt.

Stop getting service at the dealer, you're out of warranty. No reason to pay that premium.

Where are you in the world?
There are a few companies out there that can fix PDK transmissions for a fraction of the price.
They can probably do everything else as well while the tranny is on the table.

OP, Unless they goodwill the tranny I would swap in a junkyard tranny at an Indy and get rid of it.

My extended warranty on my 991.1S PDK expires in May and was debating renewing vs selling car over that sensor.
I may just keep it and roll the dice now… anyone know what they charge to do the job, assuming you ship them the transmission?

only MTs for me but still this is awesome.
...and again, i'm going to dig up the dead horse just to beat it one more time but it's a disgrace that this had to be done independently without any assistance from porsche.
cue the apologists.....

OMG thank you. Last I heard (last year?) that couldn’t be fixed.

I am amazed the kind of BS some of us put up with. If it isn't a transmission, it is a coolant pump or COVs. Reminds me a lot of a famous American motorcyle where "chrome won't get you home".

Great info in this thread for all who have PDK's! I appreciate everyone who's contributed. Never know when this could (unfortunately) come in handy!
