Is the dashboard on the 991.1 or 991.2 leather or vinyl?

unless you specifically ordered the leather package interior, it is not leather

It depends on the interior that was specified on the car. I believe the standard interior has a vinyl dash … the full leather interior has a partial leather dash. But you can get leather everything if you want, fuse box covers, sunvisors, pretty much anything you want can be covered in leather … if you’re willing to pay.

I have a 991.2 GTS and the dash is not leather. Not sure it is vinyl either. It's some sort of man-made plasticky material.
I didn't notice it until a friend asked what is the dash made of. Now I look at the 'plastic' dash every time I get in the car

Eh. When searching for a 911, it wasn't a deal breaker, but I preferred the non-leather dash optioned cars. The leather tends to get wavy with time over the tops of the doors and dash, but mostly with convertibles. Ferrari has a huge issue with shrinking leather on their dashes, almost every 458 did it. I don't mind the "plastic dash", it's more care-free when wiping off the interior.

The easy way to tell is if there are seams with stitching on the dash and door panels then it is optioned with full leather. Otherwise, it is man made plastic material.
