You need to return it to stock. 911 buyers are a picky breed and in this price range you're likely to get buyers trying to get their first Porsche who will want it as close to stock as possible. Two quick things to make it more interesting to prospects are:

1) Rebadge it. Seeing PORSCHE 911 Carrera S will be important to some folks. Debadged can look modded/molested.
2) Put the stock PCM back and sell the aftermarket radio separately.

Next - as others have mentioned, get some decent pics up. Your interior is in good shape, but cell phone pics don't do it justice. Get the car detailed professionally, and take pictures with an expensive camera .

Here's my post from when I sold my 997. https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...san-diego.html. I ended up selling locally, but I got a ton of interest from this post.

Good luck!

It’s a nice car but that stereo install doesn’t look appetizing to me. Why does the plastic frame cover the silver trim of the air vents? Also the market for an 80k mile Carrera is small bc many want a garage queen. I’d think even a manual transmission 911 would have a hard time finding a home w that mileage and price. Just my $.02. Do love the car though!

My 2 cents, I don't think the pictures are horrible, just a bit weird angles. It doesn't look dirty or unkempt to me but sure the nicer the pictures, the better.

On the minus side,.debadged rear looks sketchy and the oil gauge showing overfull would bother me very much as a buyer. I'd spend what it takes to make it right before selling.

Also I don't think you need to offer a reason for selling. Nothing wrong with that narrative but it's nobody's business why you're selling the car, it's not like you're doing a sketchy flip of a car you bought two weeks ago.

Thank you all for your most generous replies! I'm glad the general sense is that the pricing is OK and I'm definitely planning to take new photos -- just before sunset on a bright, cloudy day makes a lot of sense, but I don't have a camera other than the Iphone. I have the rear badging and will note that -- I'm not a fan of badging myself but you're right, others may feel differently. Shall see if I can arrange it neatly myself. The audio system was installed by a highly regarded specialist who used only the existing openings and the Bose speaker grills. I'll add that detail, and say that the original system can be easily reinstalled (though in this case, I really do think the purist is going too far -- the original Bose 'premium' system sounds horrible!) I'll ask my shop about fixing the oil gauge warning -- he told me that as long as I'm getting regular oil changes it's meaningless functionally -- but I understand that buyers may be more wary. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. This feedback is incredibly helpful, thank you again!

https://www.consumerreports.org/cars...delYearId=6114 says you are high to market. But it sound like a great car that someone can trust.

The mileage alone will scare off the majority of buyers. People don't want a driven 911.

Your pricing is about what I'd expect. A dealer would likely ask 79 and settle for 73.

Personally, the PCM being removed is a massive turn-off. Big aftermarket soundsystems, even those that are super professionally installed, are very scary to me. I would pass it up on that alone, regardless of price.

I just sold my heavily optioned 991.2 C4S with 60-some thousand miles on it. Go to kelly bluebook and run the instant offer thing. For me, that produced the top dollar across every dealer quote I received. Tack on 10-15% to that number for a private party sale, and 15-25% for a dealer listing price. If it's worth it to you for a few grand to deal with tire kickers, market volatility, etc., then keep on with the private party listing. Otherwise take the kbb offer and run!

Some of the best sports cars i've owned started at 80K+ miles, no more trouble than those with 20-30K miles. Let's not waste time beating that horse. I think all the replies above about photos, lighting and badging are right on. Great photos, and $65K for a 911S with no accidents, should sell well. GLWS !

The market peaked last Spring and is much softer now. I recently sold my 2012 991.1 911S for $60,000. It had 60,000 miles and over $40k in high quality upgrades, with all maintenance performed on or ahead of time. I learned through extensive effort that the market won't pay for upgrades. Your very nice audio system, for example, appears to have cost $6-$7k installed, but adds zero to the market value. I agree with other comments above that you need to make it as close to OEM as you can, with the emblems being a key part of that. Absent those, it looks to a typical Porsche buyer that they were removed when damaged, and the owner didn't care enough to restore them, which speaks to buyers for how little the previous owner must have cared for other maintenance items. The asking price is OK, but don't expect to get it.

I wouldn't mention 4 owners up front. If they are serious they will see that on a CarFax but they might be emotionally invested in your car by then.

with those miles, only a small percentage of buyers will even consider it. my guess is well under half, if not considerably less. fewer potential buyers means it's gonna take longer to sell unless you price it crazy low. aftermarket tunes and no badging also cuts into the buyer pool/price. you might be a few grand high right now. i'd incrementally lower the price until you get some nibbles.

looks like a nice car. be patiant and it should sell eventually

I wouldn't recommend doing this, especially on rennlist. Folks here are picky, and lies of omission really get people fired up.

It invites comments of people perusing cars to post "hey this is a 4 owner car" in the thread, which causes unsavory discourse, and then I get to deal with everyone reporting everyone else's posts and that makes asellus angry.

Interesting how the market changed since I bought my car last year. I was seriously looking for a year prior. Your car at that price would have been sold quickly, especially being an S.

Putting myself back in the buyer mode I was a year ago the aftermarket radio likely would have been a deal breaker. The mileage wouldn’t concern me at all, actually the opposite. I’m more suspect of low mile garage queens.

As everyone else has said, high miles and an aftermarket stereo may make the car slightly less desirable to many buyers.

Take better photos of the car, get the ashtray lid fixed, and change the oil so that it doesn't indicate that is it over-full. Fix the clock to the right time. This would clear out a lot of the items you have listed as issues under "condition."

Either clean the interior really well or better yet, have it professionally detailed.

Good luck with the sale! It's a beautiful car.

Perhaps a minor point, but calling it a V6 in your ad may raise a few eyebrows

Default not sure I agree

When I bought my S I was intrigued that it had the factory badge delete. Unadvertised power adds 10 RWHP plus you know what you are packing. If it was not factory badge delete I would add back the Porsche only, the S adds a ricer feel.

Also the oil guage is easy to fix and should be. Totally agree with aftermarket parts lowering value. I would take a different approach and just leave it as a subtle surprise for the buyer or be honest if you ask but downplay it as a mild upgrade. As proud as you may be of what you accomplished it may mean nothing to the next guy.

To me the deal killer is the mileage. Someone who has accesses to 60K also has access to 80K which will fetch a low mileage example. At 80K miles there is no real use case, as in 20K miles or a couple of years at 100K the value takes a complete nose dive. Equally mentally daunting for a potential buyer is paying the maintenance cost of an aging high mileage Porsche. Not saying it can not be sold but I think this car with the indicated mileage will be hard to sell outside of an auction or ebay.

If I had this car I would just keep it as my thought it is worth more to you than probably someone else. Make it a track rat or install huge woofers and compete in audio shows. You do you.
