Default Anyone shop for tires lately? Even Tirerack service is bad.

I have spent the last month trying to source some M PS4S from my local tire store. Finally after a month of 'we'll have them next week' I gave up and ordered from Tirerack who I have found to be good in previous years. What kind of an inventory system tells them 'yep-they are in our warehouse a couple hundred miles from the installer? We'll ship them today and you will have them tomorrow. Don't forget to put my name in the order box' (so I get credit for this $2100 internet order) 2 days later, still no tires. Turns out the 245 fronts are on back order from Michelin. Might be 2 weeks or may be 2 months. No explanation, call email or text to say we are sorry for the mistake. I am up for 4 tires this time so not sure I want to go with the P Zeros again.

Check with your local Porsche dealer. A lot of times they have them on the shelf and sell them at Tirerack prices. I've heard several other RL members have had luck with this in the past.

I recently needed new tires for my AMG on short notice (cut an inner sidewall somehow) and the Mercedes dealer had them in stock for less than Tirerack.

Try your local Porsche dealer. Before you scoff, I was in same situation with TR showing backorders for the rears. People here said try dealer, which I did. Not only did they have front and rears, but they were also cheaper than TR.

+1 on dealer. They agreed to price match any PS4S's N rated I could find, and also if not stocked in the shop they could get them next day.

Or just get a different tire. Seems like a lot of grief for a tire.

Ditto on the dealer tire service. Had to buy 3 tires due to nails. Dealer had them at Tire Rack prices. Every time.

That's just it though. Consensus is nothing is as good all round as the PS4S, hence the problem of availability

The PS4S are great tires no doubt but I’m probably going with P-Zeros next round. Had them in the past and find them to be a little quieter. I’m not driving out of limits often and don’t track where I really need the PS4S’s anyway. Hope you find some. The dealership is probably your best bet. 👍

To those getting tires from the dealers at these cheap prices.. do they then insist on mounting and balancing them for $300+?

I purchased the PS4S and I am not totally sold, Im not sure they are any better than the pirelli from the factory. May try yoko's next time.

Everyone does bag on P Zeros but there must be a reason they are OEM on Porsche Ferrari etc. I am just now looking to replace the fronts after 17.5K miles.

You don't think they will match the independent tire store quote of $25 bucks a tire

It’s a group think Internet forum fanboy drinking’ the koolaid syndrome thing. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the P Zeros.

You're a noob and that's one hell of a bold, false statement. You'll come around and figure it out eventually.

Discount Tire has always been the best solution. They even work on vehciles with a center lock nut.

And my P-zeros are noisy at 14k. I think any tire gets noisy as it looses pliability. AZ summers are tough.
