My 2013 C2S Cab has an issue that the emergency flashers (all 4 turn signal lights) begin flashing when I lock the car. The issue is intermittent and I can usually get it to stop by opening and closing the door or locking and unlocking the car repeatedly. It happens when I lock the car with the fob, the button on the door handle or by just walking away. The car has Entry & Drive.
The car has two active/static fault codes:
880909 - Left front door handle proximity sensor circuit open circuit short to battery (+) or ground
C13212 - Communication with alarm siren (Rear 2)
Can these codes cause the issue I am experiencing? My independent service shop recommended replacing the driver's door handle. Will this fix the problem? Should I try the alarm box first? It seems that others who have had this problem fixed it by replacing the alarm module. What should I be looking at to correct this?
I bought this car several weeks ago. After I got the car home and looking into he fuse box to find the OBD2 port I noticed there were two fuses missing: B3 Alarm Horn and C9 Alarm Siren. I didn't think anything about it at the time and simply replaced the missing fuses. Now I think they were missing because the previous owner was hiding this issue. Unfortunately my PPI missed the pulled fuses. (They also missed that the horns did not work but that's something else entirely.)
So I pulled the the C9 Alarm Siren fuse and the issue has stopped happening. I also no longer get the chirp when I lock the car. I'm thinking of replacing the alarm siren. It is not that expensive and easy to get at. Do you think I am on the right track?
I'd say both those codes are related. The door handle one could be a fluke, but your alarm siren.. yeah, as mentioned above, we've been seeing failures of those pop up now and again. Maybe three this year?
I'm having a similar issue actually so I may replace the same module and see what happens since its so cheap! For me, if I press the lock button on the fob twice, the hazards will keep flashing forever (seemingly). If I unlock, then lock once, they flash once and the car locks. Not quite the same thing you're having.
Good to know. I thought is was worth $40 to see if it solves my problem. Pulling the fuse has fixed it but no chirping and no alarm. I'm supposed to receive the alarm siren on Friday. I'll post the results after I install it.
