Agreed. Great options. Low miles. Nice colors choice (black on red ). That's a $120-125k car all day. Good buy.

Just curious, for auction sites like eBay or BAT, how would you guys check the car out? Or is just a gamble since it’s an auction site and you roll the dice??

Three options in my book.

1. If you have a trusted friend near the car offered for sale, enlist their help in checking it out. Doesn’t matter if they’re a “car guy” or not. Send them a punch list and FaceTime them while they check out the car.

2. Buy a plane ticket and check it out yourself. Not being glib. Assume a $700 airfare towards an assumed $70k purchase. Seems reasonable.

3. Check out the buyer. Long time, well documented PCA member? Confidence level goes up. No history car flipper? Confidence level goes down.

I’ve employed each of the strategies above over the years. Never been burned. Good luck,

DaveGee

just thought about a 4th. PPI inspection perhaps. Forgot about that until this thread, although finding a place to do it is another issue.

I bought mine from a non-Porsche dealer in another city, so I was nervous. As you suggest, I found a buddy in that city and asked him to go check the car out. Then I found an indy Porsche shop who did a PPI. Only then did I buy a plane ticket to go see it. One way ticket and I did end up doing the deal and driving the car home.

Default Ppi with paint meter reading

Is the only way. Otherwise you are rolling the dice.

From a Bloomberg interview today with the CEO of VW:

Wait times for the Porsche 911 are 12 months, 18 months, if
I can even get an allocation. I’m looking around at the Ducati
shops, they’re all completely sold out. When are we going to get
back to normal?

We are ramping up the second half of the year, so delivery
times should shorten, and then as we are a little bit cautious
about the outlook next year, we can significantly reduce the
waiting times, but we are also not really doubling up
capacities, because the world will remain unstable. That’s our
assumption, so we have to be a bit cautious.

What model of Ducati are you interested in? I have a SFV4s. God, I'm in love with it.

That was the reporter asking the question, not me, and VW CEO's reply.

anyone spot any cars go for unusually low prices lately? Since that low milage 991.2 C4s sold for 110K, i havent seen any other signs of a market correction.

Bought a 2017 Turbo S a little over a week ago. Car was on BAT but local dealer. Went and looked at it, test drove it. Took it to local porsche shop, got a PPI. They found about $2000 in broken stuff. Even after owning it a week finding little things that are ok on a used car, but stuff like beat up side panels in the rear, wear on bolster, dash, etc. I got a great deal, so I under it isn't perfect, but I could see someone getting the car sight unseen, and having issues with all this stuff.
