Your first mistake is thinking that these cars are some sort of exotic vehicles.
They're mass produced hunks of metal with lots plastic and are a dime a dozen - certainly not an investment.
Invest in your life and the moments you enjoy and memories you'll cherish, and drive to your heart's content..

 

Bought mine to drive the wheels off it. Put on 13k miles since purchasing in late October’21. Car was pristine when I took possession. It isn’t now…I love it. I love everything about it. Driving it, looking at it, documenting battle scars, wearing out tires, putting gas in it, everything.

Truth is, I’m just not wealthy enough to buy one of these and not drive it. I’ve got a pickup I can drive but to heck with that! I worked my *** off for many years to buy this thing, I can’t wait for 200k miles!

Exactly. Went on a group drive this weekend and I wish I could have killed more bugs than I did. I winded out the engine so many time, but it kept going and going. I also learned the brakes have literally no fade even after quite a few successive hard steps. What a true machine of art...

 

I just walked away from my old 2017 base. Great, great car. Bought it with 24k miles and sold it four years later for a few grand less with 40k more miles on it. The miles hurt it as I shopped the trade in. I definitely could have gotten significantly more had I not packed on miles, but while other folks were driving boring cars, I was driving a 911. While other folks were saving their fun car, or delaying getting one, I was dropping my kids at school in one. I was doing winters in a rwd rear engine car with snows on. I was doing a cross country 8,300 mile, solo road trip. I was enjoying the crap out of that car. I was driving it fast, slow, hard, easy and everything in between. I was wearing out Michelins!

When I was a kid with an Alpine Lambo poster and a Porsche radio controlled car, I was *not* day dreaming of just staring at a car in the garage, I was dreaming of driving!

While that 911 is gone, I am fortunate to still have an old SC in the garage and another fun car to enjoy that I am unabashedly putting miles on. Yes I love to stare at them in the garage, but I like to drive them more.

 

Being afraid to drive your Porsche because it will put miles on it, is like being married to a woman you love and never having sex with her. Are you saving it for someone else? Some guys derive a great deal of pleasure keeping their 911 in their garage, rubbing it with a diaper (old school, I know), and simply admiring how unblemished their car is. This is not what a Porsche is for. Drive it, take care of it, and enjoy it. Life is short and everyone of us has been blessed to be in the enviable position of being able to own such a wonderful sports car.

 

My regret is is that I don't get to drive our 911s more!

 

In other words why cry over something that can't cry over you? DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT.

The only investment a car is, is for your enjoyment ! Whether that’s for driving it or making it a garage queen. I prefer to drive and enjoy my cars.
im not saving my cars for the next guy or my wife’s second husband!
The guy who dies with the most mileage wins!
think of every mile as a smile mile!
No one on there death bed ever wished they worked more , saved more or enjoyed there hobby less!
Use it and enjoy it!

If you want to buy a Porsche and flat bed it to your garage where it will stay in pristine condition because that is what makes you happy, then you go ahead a be a happy lad.

If you want to buy a Porsche and race the heck out of it because that is what makes you happy, then you go ahead a be a happy and safe lad.

If you want to buy a Porsche and ........ As long as it makes you happy, you go ahead.

 

Today I took my 911 out 3 different times just to drive it - no destination. I needed to row the gears and hear the engine. Morning is always best, before the traffic picks up.
