Just bought 2012 911, replaced oem battery with interstate, getting many fault codes, dealer says I need to install Porsche battery that can be synced with the car, is this true?
Depending on what you're getting, you need to either just clear or initialize. Things like the windows and power seats you have to do a song and dance. Steering/ABS you have to go lock to lock (maybe, might be mixing up my vw and 911). airbags you just clear.
Hogwash the battery is not the issue ... Most likely you disconnected the old battery without providing continual power to the car during the replacement and thus all the waning lights. Take it for a drive and and the warnings should go away if they don't take it to an independent Porsche shop so they can reset the system.
Porsche is giving you their usual dealer schpeil $$$ .....
How long are you all leaving the battery unplugged? I just unplugged the original, swapped it out real quick, plugged in the new and called it a day. No issues, didnt bother hooking up the charger, just yolod it. I used an Interstate AGM, so far so good.
For what it's worth, my local Indy upgraded my OEM battery to an Antigravity Battery (great mod by the way) and he used a factory PIWIS to initialize/set the new battery. Thus, no codes and no problems.
I switched mine oem Banner battery with an aftermarket battery from advance auto and I haven't had any issues. Just make sure it is the correct size and that it is an AGM battery.

I did the same but no factory reset. Threw a few codes then the car "learned" the new battery and the codes went away. These cars throw codes that often go away after a few restarts. Unless its a serious stop driving now code I don't freak about it unless it stays on a for 50 miles or so.
Check your cable connections to ensure they're very tight. I had warning for auto start/stop unavailable and after my dealer telling me I needed a Porsche battery (it was already there for a separate issue so I had them take a poke at it), I just tightened down the connections a little better and the warning went away.
