Pretty unscrupulous for a dealer to tell you that you need a new battery when all that was needed was a tightening of the terminals.

That's about par for the course with my local dealer

Just swapped my battery out with an Interstate, didn't even need to reset the windows or anything.

I cringe to even ask...you didn't reverse polarity? I noticed my Interstate battery appears to sit backward on the tray in order to be positioned correctly, the labeling is upside down from the perspective of standing at the front of the car looking under the hood.

I recently swapped mine for one from Batteries Plus with the same capacity. My old one wasn't completely dead and I had no faults and didn't have to reset anything when I quickly swapped the batteries. Might have been without power for 3-4 minutes max.

I wonder how common not tightening the battery is the cause of a problem? My friend replaced the battery on his 997.2, not long afterwards, it kept on stalling, when we were in the middle of nowhere. I ended up tightening the terminal for him and his problem was resolved.

Went to get my 911 from one of my storage units and it was dead as a door nail. Portable jumper wouldn't get the car to start. Grabbed this battery from the local Napa store and connected it with jumper cables to the fuse box to pop the frunk. Installed the new battery and the car fired up immediately. No codes or errors outside of TPMS which registered as soon as I exceeded 15mph. This battery was approximately 1.5 inches wider, so I had to move the clamp into the next pre-drilled hole, but outside of that, a direct replacement. $200 and good as new.

In my 718 Cayman, I installed that same larger size, but a Duracell from Batteries Plus. The Duracell came with a 4 year warranty rather than the 3 year that's typical of most others. About the same price as the NAPA, with the 10% discount if you pay online for in-person pickup.

I doubt my car was w/o power for more than 90 seconds. I did not notice any memory loss, but I went ahead with the window closing routine just to be safe. I also registered the new battery using my iCarsoft POR v2.0. No issues or codes.

I bought a 10 year old 911 with 9800 miles, had not been driven 25 miles since 2017. Dealer in Melbourne,Fl insisted a new Porsche battery was critical, i had just installed a new interstate, I relented, both the air bag module and rear control modules were sending errors. Took dealer 3 weeks to address the car as they are short staffed and underwhelming at best. I think all will function soon, thanks

That dealership has had a constant staff turnover for a while now. Four years ago they were a decent if expensive shop. The upset with Covid and economy is still reverberating.
