Default Removing Rear Wheels

I need to remove both rear wheels to take to the car to the tire installer to put on new tires. I don't want to take the car there because his lot is very congested.

If I jack up the front side from the jack point will it raise the rear enough to slip a jack stand under the rear jack point? Then do the same to the other side.

I recently found that I could not get the rear up high enough from the front jack point without having the same-side front wheel wildly high in the air.

What worked better for me was getting one side of the rear up from the rear point, putting a couple 1" boards under that tire, lowering, then putting the jack on the center of the rear crossmember (necessary because my jack is just a an inch or so too tall at its tallest point and hits a pipe near the oil pan before it reaches the crossmember; YMMV). Once you're jacking up from the rear crossmember, you should be able to get the rear high enough the get stands under both sides at once.

I use the rear cross member to get both rear wheels high enough to put some wood blocks under the rear jack points. Talked to an indy shop about it and he said sure but not the best way.

If you can get a jack under the car cut some 2x4's and put them in front of the rear wheels and drive up on them. That will give you enough room to put a jack under the car.

If you are asking that question, my recommendation is to take the car to the tire shop and wait...

On a base .2 (what I own) the suspension is not stiff enough to jack from the front to get a stand under the rear. The reverse works (if I recall that correctly). I have jacked my car up near the jack point on what I would call "pinch" area and have seen zero damage or impact doing it that way. They make jack pucks that accommodate this. i don't like to do it but sometimes ya gotta improvise. My take is jacking it up carefully but very temporarily is a non issue. I've wanted to use the rear cross member but that scares me.

Jack from the rear jackpoint then put a jackstand at the beefiest looking chassis-mounted suspension connection point. I've literally never had this strategy fail on any car I've had the misfortune of putting on jackstands.
