Default Winter summer tire situation

Back story:

May 2021: Bought a 2018 C2 CPO from dealer. Had 5k miles on the car and was still on the winter tires. It came with summer tires that were in storage at the dealer. I assume miles were put on both sets.
At time of sale they agreed to put the summers on the car and store the winter tires unit the fall for free of charge until the fall swap.

October: Car had about 10k miles on her. Took car to dealer, they put the winter tires on the car and put the summers in storage. Paid the yearly tire club fee of about $700

Today: Car has just shy of 15k miles on her. Took car to dealer to have summers put on and the state inspection/emissions. They informed me the rear summer tires had uneven ware on the insides so they couldn't put them on and pass inspection. And that I also needed and alignment since the summers had uneven ware on the insides.

Im fine with "needing" tires and alignment, but it seems like the dealer fell asleep. Why take off bad tires, store them, put on winters and have me driving around tearing up the winters too??

Thoughts and comments? Thanks

They may not have noticed the wear when they took off the old tires, or the guys that did it are no longer working there.

Most dealerships are busy and try to get things done fast, and some are more careful than others. Lots don't look at treads when taking tires off but do look when putting them on.

I think too many people expect too much from dealerships, specifically that they will do all the right things.

Thanks. Not a huge issue, tires I believe are at the end of their life, time wise anyways

Tires on these cars tend to wear faster on the inside edge, even with proper alignment.
More importantly, did you say you paid $700 for a tire swap?

They absolutely ripped you off but that is Porsche dealer MO. You only got taken for $700 which is far less than most so you’re ahead of the curve.

This is the attitude that lets dealers basically steal from us. This guy paid for a premium service. If we are paying more than double in most cases for basic service than the service techs should be taking extra time to notice the small details.

Exactly !!!! If I'm paying the brand dealership, who are supposedly the experts of my vehicle, and on top of that top $$$, I damn right have a higher expectation for service. Jiffy Lube, I could expect less, to nothing. Porsche dealership, you better have caught it coming off and going before going on.

Has left a bad taste in my mouth more then anything. Don't mind paying a Porsche tax, but I expect Porsche like treatment. Oh well, need to figure out a plan for the tires going forward. Hate to give them more business.

The point is, unfortunately, you got the Porsche like treatment after paying the Porsche tax!

Not all Porsche dealerships should be grouped together as overpriced, but note that I am still looking for one that is not.

Just looked...$645 plus sales tax for 1 year of tire club. They should offer club members a discount on tires! One year service (oil change) $480. That I did not get done. Did that myself thanks to the forums.

One alternate source for tires: Tire Rack. You can order N-spec tires, and either use their recommended shop for installation or ask on Rennlist. Tire Rack will also ship tires to the shop.

If you don't have one, you should also get a tire tread gauge:

Funny enough, the dealer is getting the tires from Tire Rack.

Pardon my ignorance mates: What's a tire club? More importantly, what are the benefits worth $700?

I have tons of storage space in my basement and a great floor jack and tools. Can I start my own tire club for just $350 instead? Club members would be allowed to hang out and drink on premises.
