I never answered your question....I got a package that had 5 dvds of maps, the license key, and 3 discs for PCM updates for multiple vehicle types and generations. The PCM update for my car was 4.5 something, which isn't relevant since I'm on 4.76.

Sounds like you have what you need. Just have them try it again. It took my mechanic a few tries to get it to take. I can even see that in the HISTORY. I can see the failed attempt to load the maps and then the successful one. Good luck. I'll let you know if I have any problems on Monday. Oh, I thought of loading the DVDs to the car and then just let the dealer activate with the license key to the VIN, but I decided not to.

I talked to the tech and they couldn't get it to work on 4.76 and wanted to give up and give me the car back. I suggested they downgrade to 4.52 and try it again. The technician did say that their shop manual says to update it on 4.52, but he very logically assumed it would work on 4.76. He's trying again.

Fingers crossed.

Default Dealer Cannot Upgrade maps....

It comes in a package that looks like a DVD, but when you open it, there is no DVD, but instead, a license key that they activate with PIWIS.

Once they are done, push SOURCE and INFO at the same time. This will bring up a screen that shows your Software Version. Verify it is 4.76. Then, push the HISTORY button and scroll down. You should see the map update "NA......." with today's date (or the date it was installed. NA stands for North America.

I'm bringing mine in next Monday.
My dealer cannot figure out how to upgrade the maps and they have opened a case with Porsche. Please let me know if anybody else's dealer is successful.

Mine is in the shop as of the 20th of June. They do have to backdate it to 4.52 apparently to update software. My mechanic, a great guy, showed me where they very specifically have to backdate the SWV to 4.52 to do the map update and then can re-load 4.76.

About the update: he loaded the maps several times but they would not take and kept dumping. They worked with Atlanta and it looks like there is a hard drive error on the PCM so they ordered a new PCM. Should be in early next week. Will pick up the car after vacation.

Yes, apparently they have to downgrade it to 4.52, load the maps, and then re-load 4.76. Guess they haven't incorporated backwards compatibility.

Are you paying $5000 to replace your pcm, was it in-warranty, or was it replaced through Good will (free)? Thanks

Once you get your car back with the map issue sorted, you might want to get that spinning-rust laptop drive out of there and upgrade to a SSD, ASAP. Lots of threads with instructions and guidance.

Guess it makes sense to wait until the warranty expires, though.

Here's what the dealer told me. The 2021 maps don't work - period, for any car. It was a defective map update release by Porsche and oddly Suncoast got access to the part before Porsche could pull the plug. They have no timeframe for a resolution of 2021 maps from Porsche.

If anybody can prove otherwise, let me know. They said they updated my maps to 2019.

This might be true for the USA. I can confirm that Europe does have a 2021/2022 working map upgrade. See my picture-proof couple of replies above. [Post#11
However, some user do encounter white tiles on a certain magnification level (1,5km) on some upgrades. There is a thread about it in the [url=https://www.pff.de/thread/2803241-navi-update-pcm-3-1-2020-2021/?postID=155755954#post155755954]german PFF forum.
I do have that upgrade and it just works fine on my 991.1. Also I can confirm that Porsche pulled the plug and does not offer that upgrade right now (July 2022)

I escalated with corporate. This experience has been a little disappointing. I got the "I understand your concern Mr customer" but Porsche corporate can't tell me if the disk is really defective they're just saying they spoke to the dealer who said it doesn't work and the dealer also told them that Porsche internal tech support said this doesn't work. They also said they can't find a recall campaign, won't start a recall campaign, and won't proactively let Suncoast know that the part is bad. So there is no communication between Porsche's customer care team and their own internal technical team. I'm moving on with my life and putting this behind me.

I talked to Suncoast, who I bought the map updates from, and they confirmed the issue with the new maps and it is not on their website anymore. I'll wait a little longer to see if there is a fix, but if not, they said they will refund the purchase price.

My car is still at the dealer with a new PCM and they are configuring/loading it.

2022 Maps loaded. Had to backdate to SWV 4.52 after replacing my PCM and activating my sat radio and online services options. Showing PCM31_NA_N420_2126_P6 in system (INFO/SOURCE Key).

I successfully loaded the 2022/2021 European maps myself, entering the license key (based on my cars individual VIN) from USB-stick first, 5 DVDs with map data thereafter.
Took 80 minutes to complete. No problems encountered. Prior & thereafter status was SW V4.76 (since 2016 map upgrade).
During loading maps with ignition on, you should either drive the car/have motor running, or support the starter battery with a charger capable of 15-20 Amps.
The problems reported with the 2022 data, at least for European market cars, t.m.b.k. seem to be associated with an earlier hardware of the PCM 3.1. For those who have the "jukebox" feature (enlarged SATA-100GB HDD inside), 2021/2021 maps work fine, former versions have to stick to 2019 until PAG will issue a solution.
