It frees you up to do the things it takes to be a better driver, car placement, braking, throttle.
I make many more mistakes and put much more thought into my manual 911 then I did with my pdk. Have you owned a manual 911 and if so, you honestly think it’s as easy as pdk?🤔

Well f*** you! Some of us enjoy an unbiased discussion with the girly-whimps who prefer a PDK over a sick…

A lot of mud flinging on the mountain bike forums

I'll keep shifting my 7MT GTS and peddling my analog bike as long as I can...

Well gents I took the plunge picked up a 2020 Manual M2 - took a quick spin - a manual in the city was no peach, especially since last time I drove a stick Clinton was in office - mildly stressful…

Will share thoughts after a week - cheers!

Had a stick in a 964 and never got out of 3rd gear on country drives. Didn't see the point of it really. Got a pdk in a 997 and loved it. Will never go back to a stick unless its like a 320i or some other small 4 cyl.

Mine was white, with 227k when a syncro finally went. Dumb me at the time offloaded the car, rather than fix it.
Had a red 93 Integra GS loaded stick too, couldn't find a clean GS-R... I regretted selling that car, cause I had a DelSol stick as well sitting beside my Z71.

I mean, I drive my PDK in 'manual' mode as much as possible and even use the stick shifter vs. the buttons because I was/am a big Le Mans and sportscar racing fan, so watching all the years of those pros grabbing the sequential shifter when blitzing down the Mulsanne or wherever inspires me to do the same. Now, I wish PDK came from the factory with the shifts going in the 'right direction' (like it does on the GT3, RS) but w/e. It's still fun. And, I learned that unlike in the 996 cars w/ Tip, if you redline it will NOT auto-upshift for you, it just cuts the gas lol. Found that out at a track event my first time out with the 991... a little sphincter-clinching for sure.

DelSol... that's a name I haven't heard in a long long time. Remember those well also.

So, I got myself a '01 996 with 6-speed just now. Have a '13 991 PDK for a year, it is my wife's car, and it drove real well, real nice interior, and a cab. Everything about it was just really nice, but just "something" was off about it. I didn't want to think it was the PDK, because I kept telling myself this it is faster, smoother, and I don't have row through gears. However, after a year, and having recently driven a friend's '22 Cooper S, I knew... it was the transmission. Something about a "sports cars" just says it has to have a manual transmission, it just does. I tried to stay in the "you don't need a manual to be a true sports cars" group, but I could never get both feet into that group. So, got my "beater" 996 and now we have a his and her 911.

I think unless you hated to drive manuals (which I did not, except in heavy NYC traffic), can't physically drive a manual anymore, or never drove a manual before, you will always want to drive a manual just from that "feel" that I can't explain. I don't really know if it's necessarily "engagement" as more people say it is. I think it's more "control" to me, to be able to control and keep the car in the gear I want for as long or short as I want. It's just a feeling...

The answer here is simple: they’re both good. The manual is engaging, it’s fun to row gears, etc. The PDK is practical, is thrillingly quick, and still very fun to drive with the paddle shifters.

I ultimately got a much better deal on a PDK so went that route and don’t regret it at all. It’s still thrilling to hear the engine rev aggressively on downshifts and shifts at redline are sharp and exhilarating.

Ultimately this is like another NA vs FI thread. There’s no right answer.

I got no reason to keep this thread alive because this is off topic, but…. I had a 93 Integra GS-R and I just loved that little car - and in 1993 the Integra was kind of a big deal! I sold it and bought a 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse FWD turbo 5 speed, which I sold to buy a 94 6 speed MKIV Supra TT. I do miss rowing gears, but I’m really happy with PDK.
