Default Replacing mid-comsole coin tray wih Smoker Shelf - Ashtray?

Not a smoker myself, but would like to swap out the open "coin" tray with a "Smoker Shelf - Ashtray" from Suncoast as I think it looks better and want to have a small lid covered compartment for my coins etc…

Has anyone swapped this themselves, and if so, what’s the effort involved? Is it a matter of just popping the old one out and inserting the ashtray module?

The parts are plug n play but to get the 12v socket you need a small jumper harness too.

then you can probably put a rubber plug in it so you don’t drop coins down there

Here is the required harness to add the smokers package. Just verify the part number. You will also need the ashtray that matches your interior which should include the heating element. The harness is located on the right side of the center console to the right of the shifter. You will need to remove the supplied harness that came with your vehicle and install the new harness which plugs/connects directly under the climate control box. I provided a diagram for support.

I did the complete smoker package upgrade with the functional 12V socket and as Sidvicious7 shows in post #6 the installation of the wiring harness requires the complete removal of the console including the ac control and the shifter. The new harness was only $70 and the 12V socket with a double USB plug makes easy access for phone charging and also for the battery maintainer/ charger. The harness also activates the led light that dims with the other lights. The convenience of the additional 12V socket made the smokers package one of my favorite upgrades.

I had trouble with mine and need to go back in an re-assess the install as the lid won't stay closed. Basically I didn't do the wiring as I don't smoke. But the tray itself was a b!tch to snap in.

Take your time with it.

Just did this, and like the OP, I don't need the wiring harness. All said about a :10 job. Pop out the switch panel and the old coin cubby, swap in the ash tray and re-install the switch panel and your done.

I redid mine a few months back and switched it out for CF. Had the same trouble with the lid closing. Two things you need to check. First insure that the unit is fully pushed into the taps pushing backwards toward the rear seats and straight. Sometimes one tab goes in further than the other so both side have to be pushed fully in. Second push down on the lid completely until catches..
