Considering preowned 991.2 GTS
Hello folks ,
I am considering. 991.2 GTS coupe with std pasm And rear wheel steer, I lost a bid on another 991.2 S with sport pasm ,and sport package a year ago that I really liked but someone else made the deal before I could
1) I drove the 991.2 Gts recently and it was great but not sure if there are any handling differences from 991 .2 s with spasm and sport package due to wider rear on GTS etc, Any thoughts on this ?
2) as you all know car prices are now insane , what should be a competing offer on a 2019 Gts coupe with 146K MSRP and 5 K miles ? Dealer is asking 1.5 k over MSRP
Thankyou

5k is essentially a new car. $1.5k over MSRP isn't a terrible price in this market for a car like that. Is it a Porsche dealer? CPO? If it's a manual, be sure to see a DME / over-rev report before purchasing.

it is a PDK car with CPO
Ya it is a sticker shock when you go look for preowned PDK car with CPO, guess it makes better senses if you trade in your current Porsche like I have a booster Gts so you get a better price on the booster Gts
Also, I got confirmation on the suspension, it is sport pasm and ride was very comfortable

Whether the car has PASM or Sport PASM, the average driver couldn't tell the difference. Get the DSC VS Sport (PASM) Controller, and you'll feel the difference. I have owned the 991.1 Carrera S with the DSC Controller, and now the 991.2 GTS lacking this mod. The GTS is a little rougher on the street. I am going to install a DSC V3 Controller soon. Handling differences, PASM and Sport PASM, 90% of drivers wouln't be able to tell the difference.
POINT 2: Cost....$1,500 over a $146 K original list. it's a steal assuming the car has low lileage, 5,000 miles (It's a new car) a clean CAEFAx (No accicdents of any kind no matter how insignificant), all maintenance done, no over revs on a stick on the DME report, if it's from a Porsche Dealer with a CPO Warranty, this could be a plus, and two (2) or fewer owners with no "stories". WARNING: If you post up the loacation of the dealer, a lurker/troll will snap this car up and out from under you. Just sayin......
Anecdote: I had a shot at a 991.1 GTS in 2017, aero package, every conceivable option, about $90,000. I could have sold my then 2004 GT3 for about $75,000..a mere $15,000 delta, I weenied out...now that car would cost me $125,000 +. My former GT3 wou;d bring more money, but not enough to close the gap. Fast forward to December 2021 and knowing that I never got over losing that 991.1 GTS lost due to inaction. Keep in mind I had a beautiful 991.1 Carrera S, that I jad purchased in April of 2021, a more than adequate Porsche car.
Cruising the For Sale want ads, one morning last December (2021)at about 9:00 AM, and knowing I had been sorta/kinda looking for a 991.2 S, preferably a GTS...I was able to find a few 991.2 GTS cars scattered around the US, but nothing in SoCal. BTW, the typical price was $140,000 or more for 991.2 GTS cars. Bingo, Encinitas BMW, 10 miles from my house, is advertising a 2017 Carrera GTS for about $125,000...., less than the original list of $133,735....with 20,000 miles lacking only rear wheel steering and front lift. The previous owner had covered the front clip of the car in XPEL as I discovered later, and had installed radiator grill guards left and right and even the center, I wrongfull assumed the car had a center radiator, WRONG. This was to be corrected later thanks to Suncoast Porsche Parts Department. I called the dealer and made a 10:00 AM appt., and of course they told me that someone was coming in later in the day to probably buy the car...I bought this story, hook, line and sinker. I drove over in my 991.1 to see the car and take a test drive and by 11:00 AM that morning I was in the Finance Office signing the papers. My wife was understandably a wee bit terse when I called her at her work and told her was buying a car. She reminded me that I had bought and sold four (4) cars in the past two (2) years. I reminded her I had kept by 993 Carrera for 17 years...just averaging things out said I. She is still speaking to me, always a good sign.
And also note when the blinds in front of the car are opened, she has an ocean view! Nothing too good for my 2017 GTS, now with more XPEL and that center radiator.

The will be significant handling differences based on 9"F and 12" rear. Wider rear track. The 2 cars are quite different. If you don't see the difference after driving then buy the 4s and save some $.

991.2 GTS is a fine car, but at that price you will take a huge loss in value. You are quite literally in Turbo/Turbo S territory.
Go for a Turbo/S. Much more visceral than a GTS, especially with a Kline exhaust.

But you can’t buy a Turbo with a manual transmission, and do you want the AWD experience? I’ll stick with manual transmission and RWD. You’re 100% right about a full Kline exhaust. The cure for any turbo charged Porsche.

went I went from a S model to GTS, I felt the handling difference immediately.

I know you said you missed out on an 991.2 S. I’m getting ready to pretrade my 2017 S next month in on at 992 GTS that will be built next month. Car is flawless with 8k miles and all service is up to date. PM me if interested and I can let you know the details. Everything would be done through my dealer and they are very competitive with trade values.
