There are differences in feel, turn in and handling between my current .1 GTS and my previous .1 S, both cars had same tires (at the time of comparison), same S-PASM suspension and very low miles. Neither of them had Power steering plus yet my GTS has SO much more steering wheel feel, planted turn in Vs darty on the .1 S and rear grip is significantly improved, even when judging by my average driving skills.
I have long said that alignment and suspension tuning (added with Power steering configuration) can make two cars feel very different, something that the auto-journalist almost never pick up, hence why its a rat race of spec sheet comparisons.
I dont have to see something on paper or spec sheet to know how much my .1 GTS drives differently than my similarly equipped .1 S
Not to add to the conspiracy theory but I thought this was an interesting note in a Total 911 article where they compare a Carrera to a T.
"What is also clear is how much more alert it all feels in the T. The 3.0-litre unit’s character is notably different – more distinct than in the Carrera – with an edge that suggests changes that Porsche isn’t admitting to. The keenness to rev is enough to have me checking the specification to see if the flywheel has been changed from dual-mass to single. It hasn’t, but the differences here, its eagerness to chase the redline and the low feeling of inertia and immediate response, suggest it has. That may be down to some ECU trickery, or simply just development, Porsche more than any other manufacturer making slight changes to its cars specifications over time which can add up to a sizeable whole."
👆👍… what’s tantalizing is the part about, “…, Porsche more than any other manufacturer making slight changes to its cars specifications over time which can add up to sizable whole"
What’s interesting is that their have been a LOT of articles that all felt there was something more there.
If there is more, why would Porsche not say it as a feature to promote over the base car? Why hide it,?
Because there isn't any more features.
This car is straight marketing genius.
I drove the S, Base, and T. The T fit right in the middle of them all in terms of performance.
I would have bought the T over the S with sport pack if it wasn't for the base brakes and lack of Diff on the PDK model.
If I was going for a manual... I would have bought the T and swapped in upgraded brakes.

Doesn't that strike you as odd that you think of the T as being in the "middle in terms of performance" ... given its supposed to the the same as the base engine.
I'd think you'd say something more like , "the T seemed just shade ahead of the base"

Performance isn't always about straight line.
The T I drove had rear steering, which actually made it a must have option when I jumped to an S for final purchase.
Rear Steering was the biggest difference I experienced from 991.1 S to the 991.2 Gen (both T and S).

i couldn’t agree more about performance Which why I love the T. It’s like fine wine as opposed to lard liquor.
the Rear steering is not a marketing hype.
It was a product engineering decision to put it in a base car. It brings back finesse with over powering/unusable hp. A product that lets you experience handling without ending up in jail or a coffin. 😊
Maybe one day - we’ll learn what’s there (or not).
Plenty there in these cars....
Track day with my friend in a 991.24S , in a 991.2S... Also a 991.2T out with us around 9 minutes...
rear steering is not a gimmick at all.

Friend with a 991.2 base and I just compared his car to my T while on his lifts. My T mounts are 1.8” forward of those on his base 991.2. I will take some pics and post when able.
My dude;
It's been a week since the above. The T Army (and the Usual Suspects from Haterville...) await your findings. No pressure.

SS
Off Topic, but SS is that really a monogramed filler bib like the old 911s used to have in your avatar? If so, I *must* have one (my initials are SS too!). So. much. love.

One of my driving buddies hooked me up for Christmas...

Well if it has shorter gearing and lower weight, then yeah, it should be faster than a base model.
