Default '18 v '19 T Differences

Any notable differences between the 2 MYs for the Carrera T? All the '18's I've seen on the market, have all black sport tex seats where the '19s all have the stripes. Were the stripes not available in 2018? Anything else difference between the 2?

There are not any discernible differences that I know of. All options were offered for both MYs. I believe there was some heat shielding added on the MY’19 across a few 911s which is why initially 991.2 C2S <‘18 could purchase the x51 power kit but ‘19s could not (I’m sure tuners out there have worked this out). Best of luck on your search and decision, it’s a great car and even better T Army community!

The revised water pump that later 991.2s got did not align with the model year, but all my research points to all ‘19s having the newer pump.

There was a change to the turbo wastegate shield intended to reduce corrosion that could cause the actuator to get stuck. As I recall it didn’t happen at the model year change, but anecdotally it seems that all ‘19s have the new shield while not all ‘18s do.

I don’t, but let me encourage you to keep looking. These cars are wonderful. There’s an edge, a rawness, a zest to these cars that is reminiscent of the offspring of a GT car crossed with a Carrera. Ts capture the best of both while muting the least desirable characteristics of each.

Many dealer-ordered cars push the boundaries of the lightweight T ethos. If you can find a lightly optioned T for around $100K, buy it.

Thanks. What options should I stay away from if looking to keep weight down?

For the T… most folks are saying “Lightweight” in both light things (like Light Weight Bucket Seats, keep the light weight glass vs real glass with heating elements and wiper, and no PDK), but also light weight as in minimal options (like no sunroof). The T ethos says less is more.

For me then, the ideal T is LWBS, light glass, no sunroof, Manual transmission, Fire Extinguisher. Chrono Package. Then again, I am biased, since this is the car I have. See below.

Some would add PCCB… but that’s putting a pretty expensive brake set on a base car - but then again, I did an aftermarket BBK by AP.

Less light “as in less lightly optioned’ would be entry and drive (but which I have), T interior package (but so worth it), RAS (huge thread warning, but I don’t miss). Power Steering Plus (universally panned)… And my T is more bloated with the LED lights, but which I love.

Here is a nice spec that will be up for sale soon at Paul Miller Porsche. A former T owner that posted on this site and it's the lightweight spec as mentioned. I can give you more information on the previous owner if interested. Attached is its spec sheet.

I’ll start off with my config:
LWBS
PCCB
MT
no sunroof
RAS
Sport Chrono
FAL
Light design package
Miami Blue
no T interior
LED headlights
Bose
standard Carrera S wheels

If I had to do it all over again:
4-ways buckets - LWBS are awesome but you have no access to the back and my kids can’t come with me
MT
PCCB
T interior package (pick a color, any color because it’s awesome)
Auto dimming mirrors
LED headlights
no sunroof
FAL - I already scraped my painted front lip spoiler and I have FAL 🤬 (yes this adds about 25lbs)
RAS - maybe, yup you’re faster but it feels unnatural at times and I don’t think it’s a must
bright color - silver looks great but bright colors seem to be a bit more unique. My colors in order would be Miami Blue, Lava Orange, Guards Red with guards red interior looks spectacular, Silver and Yellow are tied.

All the best on your search!

Thanks guys. Looking at a GT Silver one with the following options. Anything missing that's a must have or anything in there that could be a potential issue? I'd love buckets but i need back seats for the kiddies. Also, is PASM and sport exhaust standard on these cars? Someone mentioned lightweight glass...i thought that was standard too. Thanks for the help!

My only hesitation would be the sunroof (and some love it!) but other than that it seems like a good spec from my perspective. The car is great with just the minimal amount of options. Yes, it comes standard with PASM and Sport exhaust and lightweight glass. If you see rear defroster or rear wiper then you lose the lightweight glass.

All correct and you would see Deletion of Lightweight Glass noted on its spec sheet. Good luck on your search.

Looks good-go for it if you like it and ticks your boxes! A steal if 100k or less in this market although if it’s a dealer they are probably asking msrp.
