Default New Baby at our House

It's a 2017 991.2 GTS

As of now, I have only put about 500 miles on the 991.2 GTS car, and every mile has been a treat for me. It came with features that were not available to me on my former 2013 991.1 Carrera S such as, Lane Control Alert (LCA), that signals me with a red light array on the doors, just aft of the “A” pillar, when a lane change is ill-advised. LCA seems to have a remarkably long range compared to other similarly equipped cars I have driven. The car also has a backup camera that prior to the acquisition of the 991 GTS, I didn’t think I needed. After utilizing it for parking assistance, I do. It also has front parking sensors too, helpful as the car is 20mm lower than the Porsche cars lacking Sport Suspension. It looks like I may scrape off fewer front splitters as a result. The car is equipped with Porsche Communications Management System (PCMS) that incorporates Apple Play, Sirius Radio is available along with heated and cooled 14 way Sport Seats. So far, I have only mentioned creature comforts.

As we know there are technical benefits emanating from the 001.2 GTS cars, such as the 3.0 twin turbo assisted engine with 450 HP, 30 more than the Carrera S, producing 405 lb-ft torque across 2150 to 5000 RPM, a 36 lb-ft torque improvement over the standard 991.2 Carrera S. The car has PDK with Sport Chrono to include the Porsche Sport Response Button (PSRB) described above, also, Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts (PADM) are included, a wide butt is seen as a result of the GTS being based on a Carrera 4 S tub (I believe), comes with 20” Center Lock wheels (A blessing or a curse?) and Sport Suspension.

Welcome to the GTS family. They are special cars. The list of options and specs does not do the .2 justice.

Default Great comments...

Thanks for all the awesome feedback. I am so in awe of the GTS, it just gets better every time I drive her. I have the center radiator on order from Suncoast, and will be getting the DSC V3 one of these days as well. With a stroke of luck, I found a set of lightly used O.Z. wheels, so I can mount up some DOT 200 tires for an occasional track day.

Rumor has it there is a 992 GTS coming along, Oh Lordy, that beast will be over the top....BUT, I will be sticking with the 17 GTS, it has everything I want and need, for now that is.

Stunning car, thanks for sharing that.

I also purchased the Sun Coast 3rd radiator kit and have yet to install it. If you install it yourself, please let us know how it goes. There is a great video of an install of a 3rd radiator on a 991.1, but I am not sure what the differences there would be for a 991.2. Maybe just how the front bumper comes off? Also trying to avoid having the dealer bleed the cooling system after.

I am having my local Independent in San Diego do the install. Last time he charged me 3 hours of labor for the 991.1 Carrera S, I saw the video; it loved to be very thorough.

My gut did not have to bleed my coolant system...I did need to do a little top off with DI water.
