That’s not the point of creating this thread in the slightest.

You asked how to negotiate the seller down to your offering price. Now it’s about taking shots at the seller after not getting what you want. Bizarre…
Could have gotten $250/60 out of me if behavior was just slightly resembling someone who actually runs a business.

This seller knows his stuff, knows what he can and cannot get for these cars, and how long he's willing to wait before lowering prices. Plus, in NYC where there's lots of money and many Porsche enthusiasts.
It's great to get the input and advice from so many knowledgeable P Car guys on this board, but there's no magic bullet here to get a 'reasonable deal', he'll get close to asking one of these days. Go for it... if you can!

The seller has some pretty nice Porsches listed on the site currently, including this Targa.

As I mentioned in my first post, seller has a good eye for cars. I also know how to use the internet, google reviews, posts in other forums on this website and so on. Do your own research! Taking shots is only because of sellers own absurd behavior. I never intended to even out the seller, other contributors did.

300k for a used 911? Wow! That too for the least interesting 911 variant, a bloated Targa in strange colors. I guess it won’t be driven in the snow. Haha. I suppose there are fans willing to pay anything for a toy.

Every failure is an oppurtunity
Now go test drive a 991.1 GT3 because you can afford it. 9k rpm is pretty darn glorious and not something the targa can give.

I agree. This thread is a bit oddball in terms of trying to negotiate with the seller. If we wanted opinions he would toss it on BAT.
My opinion on value is even at MSRP this is a bad investment. Too niche of a market.

While this maybe contradictory, as the owner of a 991.2 Targa, I know these can be had for 150k. Despite the PTS and interior, I don't see how those features really add $50-100k to the value of the car. Or add $50-100k to the driving experience. At $200k I would be looking in a different direction. And at $250-300k I'm looking McLaren 600LT Spiders.
I'm probably being over critical. Just a lot of $$$ thrown into the interior, and seems like the MSRP is already well baked. So the 217k probably made sense at new. And its hard to think cars will continue to appreciate or being priced above MSRP; normally 3-4 years later would expect at least a 25% depreciation, let alone a 25% appreciation.

That asking price is such a joke and by the sellers comments, he is just a tool. He must like that car cause he'll own it for quite a while. At that price, a standard, if nicely equipped 911, would be nowhere on my radar.
Good luck finding a car that checks your boxes for a good price.
