My 19 C4S has no rattles and disassembling the dashboard doesn't have any appeal to me.

I'll see how others fare if they go ahead with the upgrade.

Yep, same here. I don’t use the service anyway and I figure by the time I get around to selling the car we should be into 7G. Not worth dismantling the car just to be able to say I had the upgrade done.

Just dropped off my 2018 out of warranty car to have this upgrade performed. Was told will require the day to install and no charge. Note, I received an email from Porsche indicating no charge in advance of scheduling the service. Will report back if there are issues (e.g., rattles).

update: Service Technician just informed me that it will take a week because the dashboard does require removal.

Better than Lexus. My Lexus, that is in warranty, is also impacted but Lexus just sent a letter saying your "connect" technology will not work as of this date. No upgrade available.

My car is a 2019 S without a single rattle or noise. I'm incredibly **** about rattles and squeaks. They idea of having my dash removed/reinstalled does not appeal to me AT ALL!!! Very concerned that it won't be right when they put it back. This is a big decision.

that’s what Porsche of Arlington told me. They will need about 4 days to do the work since the dashboard needs to be taken apart. Glad your dealer confirmed this because I stopped trusting P of Arlington. Please let us
know how things go.
hopefully no rattling, etc.

I don't use Connect or Connect+ on either of my cars. I suspect that if many owners/subscribers don't follow thru with the upgrade that Porsche will see their subscriptions drop precipitously and either offer the upgrade free across the board or do away with the service unless they feel new car sales with the updated system will offset the losses. On a side note, many home alarm systems will also require the same upgrades as they also have 3G cellular systems. Received notification from ADT and Vector Security on this.

Dash removal? That's going to go well.

Got this today regarding a re-design of the Porsche Car apps. Looks like they will combine them and promise to have a better interface.

The folks in Atlanta at Porsche customer service told me a few months ago this would be coming out. I continue to have problems with online map updates with my 2019 Macan which is supposed to receive over the air updates but it has been junk for along time with lots of problem. They have extended my subscription without charge for more than a year as they continue to try to figure it out. I have the Apple Car Play option, but I keep pressing them to get my system working or give it to me for free and they have.

Dear Customer,

On behalf of Porsche, we are delighted to inform you that a new app is currently being developed that will soon be available in the App Store and in the Google Play Store.

The new app will combine the services of several already existing Porsche apps, including the Porsche Car Connect app.

This ensures a ‘one of a kind’ user experience and a maximum of connectivity between you and your vehicle.

We will soon give you more information about it but, please, note that the current Porsche Car Connect app will shortly be removed from the stores, therefore shortly unavailable for using.

If you have any specific questions regarding the new app, please email your local Porsche Customer Service at customersupport@porsche.com.

We are looking forward to contacting you with further details.

Kind regards,
Vodafone Automotive

Spoke with service advisor and shop foreman about this. Foreman wasnt too sure about details. SA definitively stated that dash would not need to be removed. Hopefully true. Would be a very poor design to have buried a module that you know will be out of date and will likely need to be replaced on Porsches dime. Hopefully SA is correct.

Just picked-up my 911. The work took 2.5 days and I was informed by the service advisor that the technician discovered the module to replace was not as deeply embedded. So not as much dismantling of the dash occurred.

returned home on a rather bumpy route. No rattles or squeaks and all dash functions and buttons, including cup holders functioning. I sat at the dealership testing everything for 20 minutes. So knock on wood, all seems normal.

There's a notice from Porsche that all Vodaphone services will be affected since they're 3g. It goes on to state that the work must be completed before 2/22/22. Somebody with a sense of humor must have picked the date.

The worst thing about all this is that the shutoff has been scheduled and postponed for years and years.

Can't say they didn't see it coming.
