Congrats. I also upgraded from a 997.1 to a 997.2S to a 991.1S. The 991/981 platform is superior to the 997/987 platform in every way except …maybe….steering , some argue.

My 997.2 was a pretty basic optioned car however it was a blast to drive non the less. The best mod I did to it was to put Fabspeed primary bypass X pipe as well as the the Gundo hack exhaust mod. The sound was truely intoxicating! I also updated the steering wheel. In adition I added JoyeAuto so I could have Apple car play.

Default Beautiful Car....

I have a 2013 Carrera S/PFK....I love it....no Sport Chromo either, but do have Sport Exhaust. Based on my trolling the 991 Forum, and my personal experience, allow me to recommend a few improvements, not really mods:
  • Radiator Grills: I choose the Radiator Grill Store https://www.radiatorgrillstore.com/p...diator-grilles There are other suppliers if you do a search.
  • You get "free" PASM with your Carrera S. I swapped out the Factory PASM controller with a DSC V3 Sport Controller. It really improves the ride...dozens of great reviews will pop up on a 991 Forum search. With the car's PASM, you have Normal and Sport mode. With my DSC V3 controller, I select Sport for all of my driving...once you depress the PSM Sport, it defaults to that setting until such time as you switch it back to Normal.
  • Driving mode: I turn off Auto Stop Start...it says off until you depress the button. I also drive only in the Sport mode....love the sound of the Sport Exhaust. You can opt to turn unit it off for whatever reason, while in the Sport Mode, your neighborhoods.as an example..Also love the fact the the oil and water temps run at least 15 degrees F cooler in Sport Mode.
  • Consider protecting the from clip with XPEL, and then ceramic coat the car as well. Also cover the rocker panels.
  • Tracking the car: If this ever were to happen, consider installing a center radiator kit from Suncoast in Florida, about $650 US and about 3 hours of labor. Their catalog is like "crack". If you were to add this center radiator, the Radiator Grill Store has a grill guard for the center radiator. Suncoast has so many option for the 911.1 car, all models for that matter. The 991.1 car will run cooler when you are stressing it. 991.1 cars lacking a center radiator will run about 20 degrees hotter at the track; you don't want to go there. That's oil temps of about 270 Degrees.
I have done all of the above to my car and don't regret it for a moment. I also added a Rennline Quick Release Fire Extinguisher mount with a 2 1/2 Lb Halotron extinguisher. Not cheap, but it's awesome.

And lastly, I have written a two (2) part article comparing 997.2 to the 991.1 and 991.2. It was just published (Part 1), in the PCA San Diego Magazine. I have about 60 hours into the article...and it was review by several techie types before submission. Send me a PM and I'll email you a copy. Shortly, I'll post up Part 1 on to the 991 Forum.

Great cars. I too upgraded from a 997.2 w PDK in early 2015. And it was also Meteor Gray, a great color. Enjoy in good health.

Congrats on the new vehicle! I do miss our 2009 C2S, it had an FVD long tube exhaust and fabspeed intake, it screamed! It sounded so exotic!
