I thought about wrapping it in Leather or Alcantara…but too lazy. I decided to sand down the 3D print lines and then paint it with plasti dip to achieve a finish similar to the center console buttons.

Rough sand using 80 grit

Sanded more to 600 grit and then cleaned up to paint

Painted with 2 coats plasti dip and it came out well-in certain angles you can faintly see the 3D print lines, but overall I am happy with it. Matches the console buttons pretty well.

Almost dry

Tied to the wire for the charger

Overall-very pleased and can’t thank the op enough for sharing his creation with the community for his cost! Can’t wait to put it to use-and best thing is that I won’t be forgetting my phone in the armrest anymore!

Very cool to see that!

Also, polobi already did this, but for everyone else I forgot to mention - Pop the ashtray liner out (like you're emptying the ashtray) prior to popping the charger on. The charger is made to go down into the same recess as the ashtray liner.

I love it! Fits perfect. I added a little cloth medical tape to the inside to help ward off any rubbing marks on the lid of ashtray. Will sand a little and add paint/plastidip to smooth it out.

Thanks for the answer I was looking for!

I used the short usb-c adaptor the OP posted and have it right in the ashtray socket-works great!

Hey Brock,

I emailed you because USPS lost the contents of the package and I was hoping I could get a replacement.

Would you mind checking your email? I sent you a picture of the shipping box with the note attached from USPS explaining the damage that occurred in transit on their part.

I purchased the new apple MagSafe and the low profile 12v in anticipation of installing, so really looking forward to installing it!

Thanks so much. I was so bummed when I saw the note on there. Really appreciate it, especially because you’re doing this for the community. If you want me to cover any additional shipping charges I’d be happy to.

If you ever come up with one that does Either\Or (Magnetic\ apple Lightning dock) so I can either just magnetic charge or use the center console Data port for CarPlay I would be interested...Good start to a useful integration.

I highly recommend using the carlinkit dongle I mention in the first post. Turns your carplay 100% wireless and works flawlessly.

Did you have the newer v3? I'd read up on the v2 having a lot of issues like that, but not the v3.
