I have a 2012.5 C2S 29000 miles and no problems to date except for a failed COV for the sport exhaust. My understanding was that all COV's were replaced on some years of the 991 due to a faulty batch? I can't recall where I saw that.

Burning Brakes
unfortunately no...this is a regularly reported issue...look for engine cover cable problem ...the cable slips out of the latch and although it retracts because it's not connected to the latch the engine cover does not open...it's no biggie.

Attached is the COV TSB from October 2012 affecting many of the early cars

Pdk is the only thing
That would scare me, the rest of it is normal sports car nonsense. If you must have a pdk get a warranty.

Make a list of options, and ....
Accept no substitutes. For me I had to have:
- PDK
- Sport Exhaust
- Sun roof delete,
- Clear rear tail lights,
- 12 position seat.
- Standard PASM
- PTV electronic LSD
- If you have the steering wheel with PDK buttons, swap it out for PDK paddles,***, budget about $2,000 for this upgrade,
- Center radiator if you drive in a hot climate or track the car, available from Suncoast Porsche and other sources as well, about $700ish + install,***
- DSV V3 PASM controller for an optimized ride, about $1,300, 20 minute install,***
- If you track the car, consider a set of 19" wheels...tires are cheaper than 20". *** Pic below of my car with 19" OZ wheels, about $2,000 for the wheels and you'll need TP sensors too,
- Fire extinguisher*** (I mounted a Rennline mount with a 2 1/2 Lb. Halotron extinguisher.)
- XPEL treatment ***
- Ceramic coating. ***

Im on the fence about getting a warranty. its nearly 6k for 3 years. Most people were paying 3.5K. I think its because my car is a 2012..

Fidelity
Is based on mileage only.
are they still needing an entire replacement rather than rebuild? Ive head many shops have figured out taking the PDK apart and replacing the culprit sensors/solenoids etc for a fraction of the cost.

Check out this thread. You can get a warranty for a better price. I just got a 5/60k warranty.

I don’t think the 2012 had Rev Matching (assuming it’s a manual). As mentioned at the beginning of the thread, interiors without full leather the door panels/door cards lift off the top shoulder (near the window).

I run 255.35/19 front and 305/30/19*** rear (O.Z. Wheels) , the last of the Bridgestone RE-71R tires....
It may be a 295/30/19....don't want to dig through the garage now...tomorrow...if they are 295s, I'll update the post.
