As others have said, there isn't a larger 4-seat replacement for a 911. I know that's stating the obvious, but if you enjoy your 991.1 that much, nothing else with a bigger back seat is going to scratch that itch for you.

I've had a B7 Audi RS4 and B8 RS5, and neither compare, not even close. The newer Audis are fast but just completely lacking soul. The RS6 Avant is too aggressive looking for my taste, and it's huge in comparison. They're sports sedans, not sports cars. BMW's are in the same category, as are MBs.

Do you have room for an additional car? Someday soon when I have the same problem as you, I'm either getting a GT3 Touring and just letting 1 person ride with me. Or, if I have the room, I'd get a small, nimble, proper sports car (like a Lotus or maybe an older 911) and a Taycan Cross Turismo for the family.

Side note, I got the same idea recently; but getting a CT5 Blackwing allocation at the moment seems roughly equivalent to getting a GT3 allocation. This is coming from someone with purchase history on a V2 manual CTS-V wagon

I've heard similar, which is weird because I don't recall Caddy saying they would be limited, aside from the 500 pre-orders. It's probably just a factor of the chip shortage and GM pushing production to the vehicles with highest profit margin (I doubt a bespoke blackwing is their profit leader - my guess is Escalade or some large trucks).

Default Great feedback and insight

At this point, I'm just going to test drive as many cars as possible. I found an E39 M5 and CTS-V available near me on www.driveshare.com. It should be fun to rent them for a day.

The knee-jerk reaction to sell/swap my 991 due to useless backseats has been squashed (for now). Maybe I just need to figure out a way to pack in more cars in my garage.

Cheers!

Just put in this lift 2 weeks ago. Was .5 inches too low to fit the 911 under the RX-7 with the previous garage door opener, so I had to switch to the side mount / jackshaft garage door opener. Gained over a foot getting rid of the opener over the RX-7. Have another 4 inches to spare, but not enough to get me onto the next lock (with enough room to get off the lock to lower). I could move the RX-7 back a bit more to try and gain some room with the door closer to the hood.

The E63s is the winter car and the RX-7 is a project. Allows me to park either the Mercedes or the Porsche under the RX-7. In the winter they swap places.

Next project is organizing the garage. Biggest problem is finding room for 8 bikes, 8 sets of tires (winter tires/wheels) and tools/garden stuff.
Project that is a project is getting the RX7 on the road, or rather turning it into a weekend track car.

Still have to park our Jeep behind the single door / lift. I miss my previous garage

@Jay2Lab Highly recommend a lift I want a 2 post lift, but the 4 post is something my wife can easily manage herself.

Now I have to decide what to do for my weekend fun car that can fit the family. (I will still have another other weekend fun car I take out whenever I’m driving solo or have a single passenger.) My requirements are a manual transmission sedan or wagon. I’ve narrowed it down to a BMW E39 M5.

So my question to everyone here is, what other cars would you consider replacing your 991 for if you needed more room in the back seats and it came with a manual transmission? Or is this the time to consider a Taycan?

Thanks,

J
Just lose the kids. Problem solved!

A lift would solve most of my problems. Unfortunately, I'll need to move all the HVAC ductwork for the room above my garage before I can consider a lift.

Love the projects and problem solving. I had to get two outdoor storage sheds to stay "organized"; our bike garage and garden tool shed.

That might be the best solution. Maybe in six years....but I've heard they might need to move back in. 🤔

Try out an E90 M3. The engine is great, slap a CF plenum on top and it will roar. Yes the car is heavier than a 911 so it will feel a tad clumsy but it's quite capable, fun and comfortable for a DD.
Full disclosure: I have an E92 next to the GTS and somewhat biased...

@Jay2Lab Sounds like you have the solution to being able to get a lift in your garage

Like you an outdoor shed is in my future.

Agree with @usccharles that another part of the solution is to ditch the kids.
