Default 991.1 & 991.2,

I did write a 20 page article in two (2) parts. Part 1 was recently published in the PCA SDR Regon's Magazine, the Windblown Witness. Part 1 is essentially a look at the 997.2 and the 991.1. Part 2 is the 991.2 and my conclusion. Hopefully it will be published soon.

I only knew the 997.2 through research, never owned one, never drive one. I could speak with a degree of authority on the 991.1 Carrera S, as I owned. In Part 2, focusing ion the 991.2 Carrera S. that was written based on research...however it may need some editing. Based on what I discoed about the 991.2 compared to the 991.1, especially the 991.2 GTS, I just bought one and traded in the 991.1.

I think I owe it to any potential readers to add his update to the article. Having had the 991.2 GTS for less than a week, all I can say with no hesitancy, these are are very different beasts. Forgetting all the HP and torque comparisons, the 991.2 GTS that I purchased came with some tasty options I missed having on the 991.1:
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA), works nicely and has a substantial range it would seem,
  • Apple Play and Sirius XM radio,
  • Bose Surround Sound,
  • 14 way power seats, both sides,
  • Sport Chromo and PSRB
  • Monster brakes with what looks to be floating rotors,
  • Heated seats.
  • The wind body look,
  • Come with a supplemental center coolant radiator, cost me $1,000 to add it to my former 991.1
  • Factory supplied Grill Guards appear to be powder coated stainless steel, really rugged.
List of my options below:
BASE 911 Carrera GTS 250 Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) 457 Lane Change Assist (LCA) 541 Seat Ventilation (Front) 581 Luggage net in passenger footwell 583 Smoking package 714 Deletion of AlcantaraŽ 858 GT Sport Steering Wheel 9VL BOSEŽ Surround Sound System AZ Leather interior in Black N0 Agate Grey Metallic P06 Power Sport Seats (14-way) with Memory Package P3D Premium Package i.c.w. Power Sport Seats (14-way) XSC Porsche Crest on headrests XYH Gear Selector in Brushed Aluminum

What I miss:
  • I can't seem to pull up the circular digital dash display for oil and water temps, along with oil pressure. It's the gauge that has the tire pressure display.
  • The sound of the 991.1 3.8 liter engine heading up to Red Line,
  • Sport Exhaust on the NA engine was a little throatier. The crackle and pop on decelerations the 991.2, seems to not run the full length of the deceleration...maybe I am deaf?
  • 991.2 GTS car comes with Sport Suspension...the car is 20mm lower I believe. I don't have front axle lift so I need to be cautious when parking...I do have those front parking sensors that set to work well. My former 991.1 had standard suspension, not Sport.
In a perfect world, I'd have a 991.1 and a 991.2. , both fantastic cars. I can only imagine with the 992 GTS will be like....maybe I'll put that car on my wish list.

Technically yes on many aspects. Emotionally no. Humans are social, emotional creatures. The .1 wins that category. Sometime in the near future when we are robots, the. 2 will be superior on all aspects.

LOL that's some quality clickbait

TL;DR some improvements in some areas, but not enough to make it worth upgrading from a .1 to a .2 ... which is really as it should be.

I only ended up going from a .1 to .2 by way of a GT4 as an intermediate step. Long story as to why, but I don't regret where I am now.

Interesting. I just finished reading about the 991.2 being technically inferior to the 992. Also another article written in the future about the 992 being technically inferior to the 992.2. Don’t even get me started about the article on the 994 in 2027!!

Maybe 994, 995 doesn't sound right to me, 996 and 997 have their special panache: Read funky headlights and IMS bearing for the 996, and IMS bearing for the 997, so maybe we'll see a 998? For me, I am just happy as a clam with my ole fashioned Carrera S 991.1.

How about 99x to pay homage to Formula-E when they go full electric.

It is very clearly.1 more superior.
Can't you read... wait, ...add?
And the 992 is .9 more better yet.

My car occasionally scares the living you know what out of me. It has WAY more performance than I have driving skill. I don't really care what it is inferior to. I also got to do an "experience" lap at my last autocross in a 992. Sorry it just didn't seem much different than my car except for the shaver shifter.

What a stoopid thread. I’m mad at myself for having wasted 30 seconds to read it.

Now get off my lawn.

You compare the 991.1 and 991.2 and not a single mention of SUMEBore?

Quick Reply: 991.2 Technically Superior to the 991.1?
