Default Rear tires

Service advisor tells me I need rear tires on my 13 CS2. I am currently running Mich PS4 255/35R20 and 305/30R20. My question is, will my car notice the difference between a 305 and a 295?? I ask because I only got about 25 K out of the rears and thought I might do a little better with the 295. Appreciate any comments or advise. I'm running on cords

I would say 10K is average for rears for normal spirited street driving. Consider yourself lucky.

Ask for new alignment if concerned with tire wear. 0.5 camber and zero toe. This is the most square set up you get.

Wow. 25k miles on rears? That’s fantastic.

If you got 25k miles its safe to say you won't notice a diffference moving to 295....

Why would you think 295s would last longer?

What 305s lasted for 25k miles, and are they harder than the wheels they're mounted to?

You will not notice a difference in performance on normal street driving.

Right now your front and rear tires are both 10mm wider than stock. If you go 295 rear you and keep 255 front I think you may induce some unintended oversteer )from having too much tire up front) when driven hard and fast. Also I don't think 295 vs 305 has any affect on wear.

Most I ever got out of a set of rears was 20-21,000 miles. A few times actually. 25k is amazing. You drive a lot of highway miles. Stay with the 305s. Why are you running 255s up front?

2017 C2, currently running Michelin PS4S 245/35/20 Front and 305/30/20 Rear. Service history shows rears were replaced by 1st owner Oct 2018 at approx 12K. Rears were replaced by me at the dealer Dec 2019 at 24,597 miles. So my experience, as a daily driver, non-track guy, is about 12K to 13K for rears.

^ Tracks with what I saw from the first set of P4S, with the rears showing a lot of wear on the inner edges that killed them at less mileage than the first set of Pilot Sport Cup 2s on my GT4. Had the car aligned with the new tires. We'll see, and I ought to go check. 991.2 narrow body tucks its 305s so far in you rarely get a good look at the inner shoulders.

Thanks for all the replies!! I might have been a little generous with my claim of 25k on my rear tires. In reality I think i'ts more like 18-20k. I'm a fair weather pilot, but don't hold back when the opportunity arrises. Alignment was performed when the 255 and 305 were installed in 2018 and the odo was at 32k. I went with the wider tires because of the "cool" factor and recommended by fellow Rennlister's. I don't track the car but I do drive hard. I've had the car for 4 years (2ed owner) and still learning. Guess i'll have to budget for rear tires every couple of years.

For perspective - I track my car 8-10x/year. I go through at least 2 sets of tires, front and rear, per year. I'm lucky if I get 2,500 miles out of a set of tires.
