Does Fidelity Platinum pay the 'Diagnostic fee' ?
I have a Fidelity Platinum warranty on my 991 with a $100 ded. Took the car to Reeves in Tampa to get the low tone horn and window switch repaired. The service advisor says he's not familiar with Fidelity and doesn't know if they cover the diagnostic fee ($400) so he'll need to check after the car was diagnosed and if they don't cover it I will be liable for it. Does anyone here have experience with paying a diagnostic fee or does Fidelity pay that ?
Also, the service advisor didn't know if the warranty covers a rental in case of down time. The rental is $45 a day and they don't know if they can get the car fixed within the next few days. I got a shuttle lift back home, but curious if this is also covered by the warranty.
Thanks!!

I wouldn't visit the P dealership if it wasn't the warranty. If they are about to slap me with a diagnostic fee and I need to pay it for every warranty repair then the whole equation changes.

I have a Zurich warranty but the Fidelity is similar. The one repair Ive had done they credited the diagnostic fee towards the repair and Zurich paid all of it but the deductible. You can also ask Fidelity if you can take your car somewhere else. It sounds like the dealership doesn’t want to deal with a warranty company. Had a similar experience where the dealer claimed to have called my warranty company and the claim was denied - when I called the company myself they informed me they keep a log of every claim and never got a single call from the dealer.
I agree with others above that you should try a different dealer if possible. Wish I had that option here in Vegas!

My local dealer charges a $250 diagnostic fee and my Fidelity Platinum warranty paid for it. It's either that or the dealership waived it.

i've never paid a "diagnostic fee" on *any* car as long as i ok'd the actual repair with the diagnosing dealer. can see this happening if you refuse the repair but never heard of such a thing if you let them do the work/repair. is this common??.

Call Fidelity instead of asking most of us who don't have the right answer. And then find another dealer, this one is trying to steal from you. Terrible customer service.

I'll talk with Fidelity and will also see how the dealership repair plays out and will follow-up here. No point in bashing the dealer before we get to the finish line, maybe the diagnostic fee is a fee the dealer charges in case you waive the repair. Just keeping my cool here and curious to see how this unfolds.
What about a loaner, anyone has experience with that ?

Loaners, from what I understand, is a courtesy gesture from the dealer. Not so much a warranty thing. I've had warranty work done without a loaner simply because they didn't have any available.

loaners are almost always covered in any decent comprehensive plan. they also have a capped charge that they will pay and it's usually a low dollar amount per day and a max number of days. don't expect a luxury car. it'll be economy all the way. with rental pricing being astronomical now-a-days, you might still end up paying some of it out of pocket even for an econobox. all the provisions/limits will be in the documents you received. federal and most state laws require it all be spelled out.

Are we conflating insurance with warranty? I guess I'm not familiar with the dealers outside of the Boston region because the BMW and Porsche dealers I've been to, loaners are always a courtesy gesture for warranty work. They even have a big sticker in the back that said "courtesy"
