Bad starter
2014 C2 PDK
Anyone here diy your starter install? Is it doable or should I take it to my indie? I do my own oil changes, brake bleeds, spark plugs etc. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Can't find any videos/writeups online, only for 997's. TIA
Phil

I assume battery is good and strong? How did you get it diagnosed?

The 991.1 FSM has been leaked and should outline this procedure pretty well for you. I'll try to remember to pull it up and post it here when I get back to my PC.

also out of curiosity - was the AutoStart function mostly activated or deactivated?

This is just shy of 5 hours on books, so expect to pay between $550 and $1000 + cost of parts to have it done by an indy.
WM 276019 is what you're looking for. Doesn't look fun. There's a ton to capture out of the FSM and paste in here -- grab it from the google drive link in the previous post's signature. There are a comical number of things you need to do to gain access to the starter.
The big item here is lowering the engine.
A general synopsis of the procedure:
Prelim:
Disconnect the battery (WM 270619)
Remove spoiler (WM 665819)
Remove intake filter assembly (WM 242519)
Lower the engine (WM 100109)
Remove "resonance tube" (WM 247419)
Actual work:
Remove the four fasteners and replace the starter. Seriously, that simple.
The mounting bolts for the starter are etorx m10x35, 33lb-ft torque
The nuts for the wiring M6 (5 lb-ft) and M8 (13 lb-ft)

Thanks for the help gents. I was hoping I could gain access from underneath or at most by removing the bumper but dropping the engine is a little too much for me. To my indy I go...
