When I went from a 981 to a 991 it did take a bit of getting used to for me as well.

It helps to pretend 7th gear doesn't exist - I've used it maybe 3 times over 6 years of both 991.1 and 991.2 ownership.
Thanks for your input. Definitely not another money shift thread! Literally just trying to get my car into 2nd gear 😂.

I think you are right about this. I seem to recall missing the shift sometimes when I’m at a stop light and in the left turn lane. Perhaps the car in front of me accelerates too slowly when the light turns green and I shift slowly into 2nd.

I’ll test your suggestion: 1) shift faster, 2) work out my arms more so I’m not so gentle. 😉

This has happened to me but on a downshift from 6, instead of 5, I select 3 which obviously is not good because of potential over-rev. I find I really have to concentrate on the 6-5 downshift.

I don't have much to offer here but I do have to say, every time I see this thread title in the 991 forum display, my heart sinks a little.

Then I remember it's not a thread about doing a money shift and I feel better.

Yes I think I’m in the same boat as you on this one too. I see your name is Quattroboy. If that is reference to Audi Quattro, then I will say I didn’t have this happen in my Audi. Mine just shifted into the appropriate gear that I was intending. I think I just need a little more getting used on this car as it doesn’t happen real often..

Our 991 is has PDK, but I've mis-shifted into 3rd when I'm trying to shift into first from dead stop in our 997 a few times. It's been when I'm in traffic, not as I'm leaving the house. Not fun.

Like others have said, it’s never happened to me with 10,768 miles on my 2019. Never understood the complaints of the 7 speed. It feels great, shifts great. The short ratio gears make it a slight bit better than the base Carerra. 7th is great to cruise the Hwy and keep revs down.

Installed Numeric shifter....nothing but bliss. No more wondering what gear you are in. Highly recommended.

Drove to the Import show at Carlisle today. Fifty-five mostly highway miles and seventh gear netted me 29+ mpg.
