I use the CTEK 5.0 MXS along with a comfort indicator hooked directly to the battery. I know they’re good for traditional lead-acid and AGM batteries. CTEK also makes the Porsche branded battery maintainers (and charges significantly less for their own brand). One can run the indicator (which is a quick connect / disconnect) out through the notch under the passenger windshield wiper arm, so one can close the frunk lid, and you don’t have to mess with cigarette lighters

Thanks. My maintainer cables are already exactly routed from the battery as you have yours. I currently use a 5A Deltan Battery Tender. I called Deltran this morning and was told my current model will work with either SLA or AGM batteries. Li-Ion it would not. Still not sure which direction I'll turn, but right now leaning toward AGM.

It came from the factory with an AGM from Banner Battery in Austria which now happens to be over 8 years old and starts her up as if it was new, so why would I change something that works and has a long life.

It might be a different brand, but at $250 or less, it beats spending $1200 for the same sized H7 battery.

Thx for the reply. Earlier today I checked the stock battery under the hood to see what battery design it is and saw nothing on the label stating AGM, It is a Banner Battery p/n 999.611.070.12. I then tried googling that p/n to find the specs but could not find any specifics as to design type. But you're saying it is in fact an AGM battery. Maybe the ID is on the label on the other side of the battery which I can't see due to the firewall.

Also, I measured the stock battery and it seems to be an H6/Group 48 from the dimensions. The replacement AGM suggested by aftermarket battery companies (Fullriver and others) suggests a H8/Group 49. If a 49 replaces a 48, I'll need to be sure the negative cable will reach that extended length battery.

My factory installed battery is a 999.611.080.12, a 12V 80 Ah 800A EN. That makes it an H7. My battery is an AGM. You have the H6 70 Ah.

Porsche supplied an H6, H7 and H8 and the battery tray can take all three.

Thx IXLR8. Do you know if my stock H6/48 70 Ah Banner Battery, p/n 999.611.070.12, a Flooded or AGM battery? Yes, can see the tray in my 911 is extended to take longer batteries.

I believe our Porsches with the Start-Stop function takes an AGM or EFB. The fact that the MFD shows a charge as high as 15V tells me it is an AGM, a voltage a flooded battery should never see. And I think some members that registered their first battery replacement noted an AGM for the battery that was installed from the factory.

I sent an e-mail to Banner battery in Austria with the Porsche PN asking then to confirm the battery type. Sent it to them in German.

I am replacing mine when the time comes with what was installed, a H7 aka 94R. No need to go bigger.

Can I use the Porsche battery tender (12v sockst) with AG 60A battery, or do I need to buy a Li specific tender?

As expected for the reasons I gave in post #51, it is an AGM battery and confirmed by Banner Austria in an e-mail I just received from the engineer working the help desk.

In the e-mail from Banner: "They do not export Banner batteries to Canada (and I would assume the US), but they have a Joint Venture with East Penn Canada (and I would assume with East Penn US)".

"The Banner batteries produced by East Penn will be labelled under a different name but will maintain the same quality".

I am waiting for a further reply from Banner regarding US production.
East Penn is a battery manufacturer and produces top quality batteries. I have an East Penn battery that I bought in 2010 that is in my 993.
