What did that process involve? Interested if it’s not a elaborate write up for you. Thank you.

Sometimes I truly wonder if all the people who think the bose sounds like garbage are running with linear audio enabled.

Well yeah, it's in the back. There's a big volume gauge right in the middle of your instrument cluster!

The base models only get one station to listen to, but the S and beyond get TWO stations!

I agree. For my ears, sound seems flatter and less choice with linear on. Surround on might be sacrilege for audiophiles, but in GTS it sounds better to me ringing ears.

^^ Agree. Linear flattens an already too-flat, undefined system. If anything, I'd love to be able to pull some midrange out, or areas of the midrange—and tailor the bass response too. Suspect this and better tweeters would be all I need. I typically run with none of the Bose "modes" on. Occasionally there's a song that sounds better on one of the surround settings on, but not worth the hassle. I am picky about sound, having mixed live sound for many years, and suspect I could come to a nice setup with what's in the car (less the tweeters, which I agree are crappy…though they too might benefit from some high EQ work, too).

I just wish there was a way to interrupt the signal from PCM to the amp and get to work. If one of our vendors had something like that—whether graphic, parametric, or digital—I'd be all over it.

Replacing the front tweeters with Morels from Musicar and disabling the front center speaker made an enormous difference to the sound of the Bose audio in my 991.2. Dropping tire pressure to Comfort (30/33) also made the ride much quieter and less harsh without sacrificing performance. I don’t track my car so can live with the reduced 168mph top speed 😂

Stopped messing around with car stereo systems in the '70s. I'm no audiophile and don't want anyone messing in my car's interior, disassembling/assembling, to do an installation, broken connectors and noises can be left behind. My interior is nice and quiet.

And do you get your money back when you sell/trade the car just because it has a custom sound system? Most buyers want originality.

To me the 911 makes its music mechanically (running gear and engine). May be wrong, but the interior of a 911 may not be an optimal acoustic space.

I'll note the suggestions and try them out.

The factory offered systems are the only choices that I would consider and the Bose system does its job just fine for me.

Everybody can make their own choices and I won't criticize and belittle what your decisions are. Just enjoy.

The single most important piece is the source. I have a 160gig iPod in the glovebox through hardwired connection and with my Burmester it sounds pretty good! I used the same in my 997.2 4CS and even with Bose it’s quite good. Using high quality CDs even better sound quality wise (but very inconvenient) since we still have a CD player.

In the past, I have invested good money on upgrading sound systems in some of my cars but is not something I'm willing to do in my 911. Most of the time I drive my convertible with the top down so what's the point of throwing some money to try to improve the Bose system ? For me it sounds OK.. specially because I enjoy more the sound of the car and other outside noises while driving.

911's have so much engine noise inside the cabin, that any improvements you can make to your sound system kind are kind of lost in the background noise. I prefer to spend that money in improving performance of the car.... that brings me more joy.

And by the way, I have players with the sound settings to a point that I'm OK with them.
