Sometimes I truly wonder if all the people who think the bose sounds like garbage are running with linear audio enabled.

I just wish there was a way to interrupt the signal from PCM to the amp and get to work. If one of our vendors had something like that—whether graphic, parametric, or digital—I'd be all over it.

Replacing the front tweeters with Morels from Musicar and disabling the front center speaker made an enormous difference to the sound of the Bose audio in my 991.2. Dropping tire pressure to Comfort (30/33) also made the ride much quieter and less harsh without sacrificing performance. I don’t track my car so can live with the reduced 168mph top speed 😂

Stopped messing around with car stereo systems in the '70s. I'm no audiophile and don't want anyone messing in my car's interior, disassembling/assembling, to do an installation, broken connectors and noises can be left behind. My interior is nice and quiet.
And do you get your money back when you sell/trade the car just because it has a custom sound system? Most buyers want originality.
To me the 911 makes its music mechanically (running gear and engine). May be wrong, but the interior of a 911 may not be an optimal acoustic space.
I'll note the suggestions and try them out.
The factory offered systems are the only choices that I would consider and the Bose system does its job just fine for me.
Everybody can make their own choices and I won't criticize and belittle what your decisions are. Just enjoy.

The single most important piece is the source. I have a 160gig iPod in the glovebox through hardwired connection and with my Burmester it sounds pretty good! I used the same in my 997.2 4CS and even with Bose it’s quite good. Using high quality CDs even better sound quality wise (but very inconvenient) since we still have a CD player.

In the past, I have invested good money on upgrading sound systems in some of my cars but is not something I'm willing to do in my 911. Most of the time I drive my convertible with the top down so what's the point of throwing some money to try to improve the Bose system ? For me it sounds OK.. specially because I enjoy more the sound of the car and other outside noises while driving.
911's have so much engine noise inside the cabin, that any improvements you can make to your sound system kind are kind of lost in the background noise. I prefer to spend that money in improving performance of the car.... that brings me more joy.
And by the way, I have players with the sound settings to a point that I'm OK with them.
