I ended up buying 2.0 mainly because I can get it tomorrow and not wait 2 weeks… plus, doesn’t seem like there’s much info on the 3.0 yet.

Questions about these devices:

Say I did the oil change a couple of weeks ago, can I set the date/mileage for the change for the actual date it was performed? In other words, can I backdate it?

Also, does this work as a standalone unit in that I don’t need to have a laptop/pc to perform tasks like read codes and reset oil service interval?

Speaking only for the simplistic Autel unit I posted about up thread, yes, I believe so. I reset the oil minder by entering the "date" of the service. Now, it happens,I entered the date I did the service on, but I could easily have entered a date earlier than that. So I think the answer is "yes".

With regard to the second question, and again, only for my Autel unit, yes, it works standalone and is powered up by connecting to the OBD II port. I only had it connected to my laptop initially once, to register it with Autel. I have not had it connected since.

...and to add a question of my own: I don't believe my Autel unit provides any feature to "reset" the battery service life, such as you hear about people getting done at the dealer when they get their battery replaced. Mine ('17 OEM Banner 80Ah) is due for a replacement soon, and I will do this DIY using a new one from e.g. Batteries Plus or similar.

If I bought one of these iCarsoft v3.0 units, does anyone know offhand if it resets the battery life settings in the car? I had a look through the online manual, and if it's in there, I missed it for sure. TIA.

The Icarsoft V3.0 does work as a standalone unit. I received mine last wee and immediately try it. Just connect the unit to the OBD II port and done. No need of a laptop.

I did connect mine to the laptop aftewards in order to update it to the latest firmware. It was an easy process.

Have you used the unit to scan for codes? Reset any codes like oil service? Thanks

I just connected the unit to see if it would work. I haven't reset any oil change reminders since I recently did my oil change.... so no need.

I did scan for codes and everything passed less a solenoid of the air conditioner. I need to investigate a little bit more about that one to see if its an actual fail since my A/C is working perfectly.

Gonzalo38, have you tried the por v3 to reset your oil reminder on your car and does it work? I have a 2020 base Macan and might have to order the v3 if it works. Thanks

I have a 2019 Cayenne 9YA / 9Y0 eHybrid. I purchased the iCarsoft CR Pro from Amazon this past weekend. Supposedly it is the same level of capability as the V3 POR, but, for $20 more, supports a long list of cars.

I plugged it in and it recognized the car, and had an option for service/oil resets for the latest porsche models, but it gave an error when I tried to do the service reset.

I then wen online and downloaded the latest software (4.50 I recall) and tried it again. This time it worked on the service reset.

That said, just before I tried it my check engine light came on. When I ran the OBD diagnostics for Porsche it did not find any codes, even though the check engine light was persistently on. I then used it to clear the codes (even though it said there were none) and it cleared out the check engine light.

So the net-net. It works to reset the service indicator on the latest porsche models, but leaves something to be desired on reading porsche specific OBD codes.
