This particular C4S is hard to find right now with the build we want and priced very well. The interior I think can get cleaned up, but the smell issue I don't have enough experience. In all BIG YUCK dealing with CarMax.

We made money flipping foreclosures and we're happy to "get a bargain" that requires some work, but a smoked in 911 is not where my head is at for any price.

I really like our local P-Car dealer in town. If they had the inventory, I'm in! They've also been super good with us, take care of touch ups after purchase, and are half reasonable with trade ins.
Doesn’t sound like much of a bargain at all, no one will want it down the road. Turn it in for false advertising if they claimed non-smoker and get all your money back.

Welp, I'm swamped at work but here is the coupe. Bought in cash. Done. One owner from the "northside" of Chicago -- car is absolute mint. There are no discounts on 911s around Chicagoland. They are selling like crazy right now. I can't believe how much I had to pay for this car, but I'm bought into the bubble.

I was telling my wife either we shop a good deal on an S cab or just get the Turbo S and be done with it.

Lol welcome to the club, and at nearly twice the cost of the original 4S you were looking at! Very well specced though, $185k MSRP! Life is too short, might as well enjoy it in front of a flat 6.

It's like death by $10K buying these things... My logic is at least the TTS you don't have a great argument for wanting an upgrade in a few years.

I went back and asked to follow-up with a manager and he already had pre-emptively sat in the car before I showed up and agreed it IN FACT was smoked in (and tacitly agreed it had been scent bombed to cover up the smoke smell).

He apologized, said he wished they had truthfully caught this at the CarMax in FL this shipped up the car, and refunded the $1,000 shipping fee.

So, they did right by me on the 911. I might try them again if there was a great deal on a P-Car, but not sure I'd pony up more than a few hundred bucks to ship the car around...

(I also ordered a 2014 Boxster for $600 and it showed up pretty rough, but I think it's fair so long as it isn't smoked in or smell funny or have massive wear and tear to the interior. The dash was really sun damaged from being in Texas, but I think that is more reasonable wear and ship-at-your-own-risk as opposed to a smoked in car).

I am convinced that CarMax is making just as much money from shipping garbage cars around as they are actually selling cars. I paid $400 for a Cayman to be shipped. Was promised it was in great shape with no issues. Turns up with holes in the drives seat, scratches EVERYWHERE in the paint. No refund. Manager claims its "up to standard". Told them to get ****ed. It wasnt worth the hassle at the time to get the $400 back.

Ive looked at a couple other cars at carmax. Seems like all of them have really abused paint and are pretty dirty inside. I wouldnt give them another chance. You got lucky that the manager helped you out this time. I dont think that is a usual experience.

Congrats on the Turbo though!

That seems like a good price. I bought a 2014 4S Cab PDK w/40k miles yesterday for $73500. Grey on black with black top, perfectly optioned. I got lucky it was very close to me and the dealer a actually gave me a very good number on trade. I couldn't have touched a 4S Cab in my area for less than 85k otherwise.

I second this...I feel like Carmax gets second rate cars from auction or rough trade-ins. Of course this isn't absolute and you may get lucky with Carmax and find a rare gem. I just hate that damn stupid logo they put on the back of all their cars... buyer pays for their free advertisement.

EMERGENCY REQUEST:

https://www.motorwerks.com/used-Barr...CA29904S653171

The TTS needs a daily driver now. My local P-Car dealer has this insanely clean grannie owned classic. A much hated 996. I seriously maybe want to buy this too.

Aside from price, is the IMS bearing, the main issue on these?

I'm replying because I saw emergency.

The link is broken but I'm assuming it's a 996 or 997 turbo s cab, I found a 997 turbo s cab on it the site.

The turbos of those generations had the metzger engine, which either didn't have an IMS bearing or was otherwise not affected by that particular problem.
