Hello everyone.
So I just replaced the cabin filter on my 991.1 and am second guessing myself when it comes to the direction of the air flow. Saw 2 YouTube videos to make sure I had it right and they confused me a bit more. Can someone confirm that the air flow direction should be going towards the front of the car ie away from the passenger door. Took a picture based on my understanding of how it should be. Thanks in advance.
I just did mine yesterday, and FWIW, the filter that was in place, matched the picture in the referenced post/thread.
Looking at both the old and new filters, though, I really can't tell much difference, so I'm not 100% sure if it would matter either way. But I still do try and make sure mine are installed correctly.
Kinda hard to tell from this picture, but this is a snapshot of the bottom of my take-out filter. Before I got it all the way out, I wrote "bottom" and put an arrow towards the "front" of the car. Its not easy to see but you can tell the pre-printed air flow direction arrow on the filter edge.
Not sure if this is, or is not, "correct", but I did insert the new filter in the same orientation. I will add it's pretty difficult to get this right, when you are bent over the seat, looking upside down and backwards stuffing the filter in the body.

It be kind of funny if the guy before you had it backwards. I haven’t had mine out yet but did it seem on yours like one side was more reinforced than the other? After that, is the weave or the material different from one side to the other?

Yeah haha I thought of that. I bought an "OEM" one from www.sunsetporsche.com; a Mahle. To be honest, looking at both sides of the old and new, there wasn't much if any difference. The old one was dirtier on one side, of course; it had been in since April '19 according to the service records I got with the car, when it was replaced at the Porsche dealer in Long Island by the first owner.

Lol Rich. Some next level contortion to get a filter replaced.
i bought one and cant quite contort that many ways,,YouTube had the fasteners easily to get to..mine are recessed and i have no idea if their hex, phillips, torx or what,,gonna have indy do it next time in..

Bob - FWIW on my ‘17 C2 the three fosters that hold the foam cover / pad up are about a 1/8” flat blade. Best tool I found was my Teeny Turner from Picquic tool (aka multibit stubby).

Replaced by undoing three plastic screws with a stubby, remove the molded foam cover piece, which fits around the filter housing, unsnap three snaps to allow the filter door cover to swing down, slide filter out and down. New filter in, cover snapped up, pad replaced, and screws back in.
