Curious about what everyone is running and experiences? Looking to get a system with front and back detection. Also do any of systems pick up or jam cops on over passes. Many cops shoot from the on ramps also. Any info would be great. Thanks
for radar, if you want windshield mount, V1 Gen 2 or Redline 360C. I have the V1 Gen 2. Requires phone for a lot of added functionality. Redline is better out of the box if you don’t want to play around with things.
for laser. ALP is the best choice. Have been running mine for 6+ years.
That setup of the above detectors and jammer will take care of most any situation (outside of aircraft and pacing).

Ive been researching the same question and everything comes down to ALP being the best jammer but it definitely comes at a price. As for the best detector the Uniden R7 is the best, even better then the Escort 360 ci (custom install), but it gives off more false alerts then the escort. The Radenso Theia is suppose to blow away everything out there when it comes out (rumored in March/April). I got my R7 this month and have a mirror mount on it. It took me about 5-10min to wire in with the powered mirror, so no dangling cords, I’ll probably sell and upgrade to the theia when it comes out.

As previous poster suggested great source of information is Vortex Radar on YouTube. Many videos on both detectors & laser jammers. Another great source is rdforums website. Discussions and information on all brands. Also, there have been a couple of other threads running on the same topic so search and find them as well.
As someone who has owned various detectors over the past 30 years a couple of observations. One of the key items is where do you live and what types of enforcement threats are you dealing with? Are you in more rural or urban area, how much laser enforcement is present vs. radar systems, how aggressive is your enforcement? The other major question is what is your budget? Is a $600 windshield mount detector the top end for you or do you have a several thousand dollar budget for a custom installation? Last observation is there is no such thing as the best detector. All the major brands make excellent products but there are some differences in feature sets that may work better in some situations than others, or you may have a personal preference in functionality or appearance. Overall do some research on Vortex and RD forums and figure out what works best for you.
Myself I'm running 2 older Escort 9500's in 2 vehicles that just go out on certain days and a custom installation of an Escort 360ci with radar mirror display and a Stinger Laser jammer system in our 991TTS. I agree with the posters that ALP makes the best jammers but I chose the Stinger fiber system for 100% stealth.
Pictures of custom system below: Controls for Escort & Stinger built into smokers package Radar Mirror with display for Escort 360ci There are 4 sets of Stinger fiber heads in the nose. Can you find them?

Uniden R7 here as well as an older Escort Max360. Between the 2, the R7 gives the best range, but more falses. The Max360 is shorter range (but still lots of warning in real life) and is much better at minimizing falses.
I’m in NYC and run Max360Ci for radar and ALP for laser (3rx front given running front plate, 1 rx/1 tx rear as you’re high enough to use tx). Had run Escort for both on previous car and worked fine (couple JTKs over a year), but decided to upgrade to ALP for the extra security. I trust the Vortex testing.
Filtering great on the 360ci and easy to turn off the red light notifications if they get annoying (so many around NYC are near highways and I never push it on lights, so turn off the audio alerts for red lights and leave the display notification on). I find laser pretty uncommon around here (see a bit on NJ turnpike and far out on LI) and haven’t been hit over 4K miles since the install.
I purchased the hardware from Nick at Musicar and had installed locally. Couldn’t be happier as it’s totally stealth from the outside. Nick can be tough to reach over email, but just give the shop a call and you’ll get in touch with him. He’s a great resource and the after sales support to both me and my installed has been top notch.
Couple photos below. Good luck finding the sensors! Happy to answer any questions.
Any top pf the line detector will help with radar, but they are all useless against laser so unless you live in an area where laser is not used, a jammer is a must. I am leaning on the alp system for my new to me 911 (until then just running my Escort Redline).

There is a lot of glare in the shadow areas so did not spot the laser heads. Your installer did a very nice job in tucking them away. Did he use a cover of some sort? Curious how he hid them from casual site. How did he setup your interior?
Curious how you have your ALP setup. Since these systems are now good enough to jam to the gun, it's not a good idea to leave them on once laser is detected. Do you manually turn yours off or have it programed to shutoff automatically after a few seconds? Have mine programed to turn off after 4 seconds.
Once you go stealth, it's hard not to go that direction again. It's just so convenient with nothing visible and nothing to steal. Just get in the car and drive and everything is there and active.

So the outsides are below the turn signals housed in pods and the center is on the lower portion of the license plate mount. Both are behind a black perspex that lets the laser transmit though (both to receive and jam). This post (Musicar Stealth Install) from Musicar has some more detail although the implementation a tiny bit different in mine given C4S vs. GT3 Touring
Interior is using the cigarette tray space for the controllers and a blank space in the overhead above the mirror that is used for the top in convertibles. Below are two examples (Nick's pics but mine looks the same).

I have mine auto-kill after 3 or 4 seconds (forgot which) although would practically try to kill even quicker if can get below speed limit. Very nice option that I didn't have on my Escort system when I used their lasers too (still use their radar). I'm not sure if Escort ever got around to implementing the auto-kill function for their lasers.

Completely agree. I almost care about it more on the interior though. Love a fully integrated, OEM-style interior.
Also to some other comments, if you think there is going to be laser anywhere you drive you really need to do both, otherwise you will get a false sense of security with just radar. Never been hit by radar and laser at the same time. Find police are always very diligent to keep their radar off when using laser.

Agree with your statement 100%. Here in the Peoples Republic, laser has not been that much of a factor but in the last 2 weeks I got painted twice in multi-car LEO enforcement operations. Both times the jammers saved me from very expensive tickets. Windshield detectors will let you know you have been hit with laser and this is why you are being pulled over by your local LEO.
I’ve been using radar detectors for the last 20 years. Mainly the V1 and now the R7. While they’re both great devices, even with the use of Waze, I find that they’re only about 70% effective. The police have been leveraging their technology well and being more aggressive in their strategy to catch speeders.
While in the past they would sit on the side with their gun facing you on almost all the time, they’re now using instant on, laser, as well as hiding and shooting cars as they pass by with instant on. This makes it close to impossible to get any notification before you’re tagged.
In fact I would even say that waze has been more reliable than radar detectors. So sad to say but these devices are getting to be pretty pointless. Now if you pair with jammers, etc., I’m sure it’ll be more effective. But at the cost of jammers, not sure if it’s going to save you anything. And if you’re talking about those times you’re blowing by at 130 in a 55, it’s very obvious and you’ll likely still get pulled over.
^ Agreed. I use Waze a lot when traveling. Locally, on B roads, not so much help. Radar better than nothing, for sure. Seeing a SUV, approaching me, I try to determine if it has bull bars or spotlight installed. Luckily avoided 3-4 this AM alone.
Have run a Radenso Pro (like the compact size) for some time and use Waze as well. The Radenso gives alerts, few or no false returns, with plenty of distance, and Waze is effective, particularly on the interstates.
In my home area, the local police leave their radars on continuously which helps spotting.
Looking at the future, the Radenso Theia is intriguing but production has been stalled due to current environment.
Apple Maps is looking to add the same features as Waze in the near future, so that's another possible option.
