Default 2013 v. 2015?

I've got a deposit on a 2013 C2, but a 2015 became available at a decent price.
Both cars are same color combo, virtually identical options. The 2013 is an enthusiast private party, the 2015 is a new car dealer. Both up to date on service, etc. Very similar miles.

The 2015 is net $8,600 more than the 2013. Is it worth it, all things considered?

Which would you buy?

Thanks...

OK, thanks for the opinions. Pulled the trigger on the private-party 2013. A friend is picking it up in San Diego on Monday and will have it shipped here to the Great NorthWet.

Miles? 15 should have lower miles and will be more affordable to get an extended warranty if you want one.

12.5 and 13 year models seem (and that's lightly) to have a little higher PDK failure rate and are the first year of that new transmission.

I don't think any meaningful changes occured between 2013 and 2015, as long as service is up to date I personally would save the 8grand.

While I'm not the OP I did recently purchase a 2013 S. Thank you for the post to reassure me I made a good decision

The dealer got it from who knows where?
I'd take the one from the enthusiast and pocket the savings.

This^^^^^ And I think the only update (difference) is the 2015 came with a backup camera. Nice but not necessarily a big thing. Drive them both and “feel” them. You will know.

Both being equal, I'd buy the 2013. Save the moola. Loved mine - had no issues with it.

The PDK in the 991.1 is different than the 997.2.

Like I said though, there isn't much data out there BUT if you look at failures in the 991.1, the 2012.5 and 2013 are the ones effected the most.

And if you look at ANY first gen Porsche or pretty much any car manufacturer, the first year or two have issues. Porsche doesn't make many cars so it takes even longer for them to weed thru the issues.

there was a very slight model change, I think in 2013. You can tell by the little **** with no function where your right knee would hit the dash, if you sit in the passenger seat. Mine (2014) doesn't have that.
Also on the model change they increased the sales price slightly, introduced the glass sunroof an privacy windows as (paid) extras. This is for the german models. US models may vary.
As I've read in this thread also the backup camera got introduced. Both models are 991.1
Other than that, there is no difference from the outside. Did I forget anything?

Always found it insane that my brother's 2007 TL Type S had a back up camera, but the 2014 C2S I just bought doesn't come with one. 100k+ MSRP car...

the little **** is a temperature sensor. the glass sunroof was available on the 2012.5. The PCM is different in versions after 2012.5

I believe that transmission was in the late 997s, and I have never seen any actual numbers on the rate of failure of PDK by year. I have a 2012.5 launch edition since new and it has had no major problems over 45k miles.

That said, it was a new model and Porsche had many "campaigns" to correct teething issues. Later cars have a newer more capable map and fo system - assuming the option is present.

Six $K could cover a lot of eventualities, but I personally would go with the newer car all things considered, just beacause.

I had a ‘13 4S for 4 years (MT). Car was rock solid not 1 significant issue. Take a look at the door panels. On cars not speced with full leather interior they did have door panel warping.

Default I would look for an older one with lower milage

Both these cars are well used. If one of them had no sunroof I would pay more for that. For me the 2015 pvt party one would be same price once I filled in the purchase price on the bill of sale. Your state may differ.
