As I was plowing through 10" of snow....
Chicago's first major snow storm of the season last weekend. Had to test the 991.2 C4S shod with 20" Michelin Alpins. Was doing ok in normal mode, traction control on, on streets with about 6". Its when I hit a section of around 10" that the car just came to a halt. Into reverse, nothing..Into forward..nothing, then I turned off traction control, turned to sport mode, and floored it. WhaLa! The front wheels grabbed and the car began to plow through, snow flying over the trunk and all. A guy on an Ural with a sidecar gave a thumbs up. Very exhilarating but now know not to attempt that again. What have been your experiences with our ultimate, year-round driving machines?

Awesome story. I have no experience driving Porsche's in the snow. Although I would like to attend the Porsche Ice Experience. https://experience.porsche.com/en/ic...ice-experience

Driving from Geneva airport to Saas-Fe at 3 am in a snow storm, with 6 to 8 inches of fresh snow on the turnpike, in a 993 Turbo S with four snow tyres.
Quite an experience ..... thanks to EasyJet flight cancellation!

I've driven my former '15 TT with Alpins in the snow without any difficulties as well as my current C4 on Sottozeros, but neither in snow so deep.

With all the debris, ice chucks and other that can be buried in the snow, seems like a poor idea.
I've driven my .1 C4S regularly in the snow, sleet and slop, but nothing that deep as I was worried about using the front end as a plow.

Sounds like you need a 911 Safari.
The front/spoiler undercarriage and the radiator slats are vulnerable.
It wouldn’t be as great a worry if Porsche parts were cheap.
A C4S is great, own one and wet weather traction is reassuring; living in FL, I can only surmise snow performance is also competent but driving over snow deeper than a couple of inches would worry.

Outdoor Chicago parker here. One thing I never see mentioned is that, without any engine heat up front, all the snow up there blows onto the windshield rather than melting. You need good wipers. It is fun to get thumbs up from others as you drive through slush.

Only winter story worth telling so far is doing some donuts in parking lots -- you know, learning the car's limits with TCS on and off, in the name of safety of course -- and getting the attention of a cop.
Drove into a Lowe's parking lot, started a huge slide around a parked squad SUV. He lit me up, obviously, so I pull up next to him and rolled down the window. "Not a best idea" he said -- I looked around and asked "it's a parking lot.. is it illegal?" Turns out it is. Who knew? I somehow didn't know it was illegal, but I guess there are four specific moving violations enforceable on private property without requiring the property owner to call them in. Live and learn.
