Anyone recolor yellow deviated stitching to red with a dye pen?
I know this method works decently well on white stitching, I found a set of leather parts that I want which are hard to find (hence the question) but they are stitched yellow and I want red stitching.

Ever mixed yellow and red paint in elementary school? You get brown.
I feel the red pigment won’t overcome the yellow base of the stitching enough to show as red. You could experiment with yellow fabric or some yellow string or rope from a hardware store.

Contact an upholstery shop.

I did it on a MazdaSpeed a long time ago... You need to bleach it first, then color it. It worked very well but needed to touch up often because it becomes pink over time.

If changing the color requires removal of the stitching, why not just buy new red thread?

Ya I think it will only work on some white stitching. I changed my C7's white stitching to red using a fabric marker. Looked great. Tried it on my P and the thread was too dark (platinum) and also seemed to repel the dye. Maybe some type of coating? Obviously a better quality thread used than the Vette.

It doesn't. Folks with white stitching have had decent success with dye markers because the dye theoretically colors the thread and doesn't absorb into the leather (just wipes off). Other folks have accidentally used actual Sharpies with predictably horrific results.

As others have said, white takes the dye well, in my experience silver wouldn't take it at all, so I am assuming the lack of dye is what makes it work.

Since you asked, I vote for black as it will look great with that interior. (I am guessing it may be possible to get custom belts to match the brown that would be cool).
