So I've seen this equation applied to bikes, but can be applied to Porsche;
" The correct number of bikes to own is n + 1.
While the minimum number of bikes one should own is three,
the correct number is n +1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned."
What is the one Porsche, or any car for that matter, that you find yourself searching endlessly on Rennlist, Autotrader, Cars.com or building it a thousand times on the Porsche configurator?
What is the reason(s) for not getting that +1?
For me, my n is our Carrera T and the +1 is the GT4 (718/981) or Spyder (718).
Reasons holding me back is lack of garage space. We have a 2 car garage with a 4Runner and the T and no room for a lift, and I'm not keen on parking the 4Runner on the street.
And add in the City of Alexandria's 5% yearly property tax bill on the value of the car is a tough extra pill to swallow.
What's your +1?

I don't look for anything more - totally happy with my "fleet" and also being in Virginia, don't need any higher tax bills on Personal Property Taxes
'20 Ford Ranger 4WD - Go to Home Depot / Winter Sled / To the Dump Hauler
'19 Audi E-Tron - Daily Driver, cheap to run and fast
'20 Macan S - Wife's Hooptie
'21 992S Cab - For the Fun.
'17 Harley Road Glide Special (down from five motorcycles to one now)
Bunch of Carbon Framed, Too-Expensive Bicycles I don't ride enough.

n+1 = Move out of The People's Republic of Virginia... Best move ever made! Virtually anywhere else you go will feel like an INSTANT 30% raise. Look for something black, grey, or blue (dark skies) which also usually indicates awesome driving roads and no Bronze to harsh your mellow...

I'd really like to add a 964 911 someday, but to do that I'd need a vehicle lift and I doubt my wife is going to let me do that.
Instead, I'll probably focus on carefully considering what to replace my daily driver (Golf R) with in the next year or two. Problem is that there isn't really anything new out there that checks all the boxes for me. Macan GTS, S5 4-door or C43 wagon maybe.
I only have 7 bikes but 3 are the SO's. N plus 1 applies to bikes I think because they cost almost nothing to own. For cars I would think I(income) I(2) = N + 1 where income has to increase for N+1 to occur. Perhaps the rennlist braintrust has a mathematician that can properly display the formula.

4. Kids GTI (with MT!)
I have zero garage space - see above - so no more cars for me. Tho Id love a Track P-car and a civilized P-car. Both Manual of course.
I configure a GT4 or a GT3RS at least once a week.

Space is the limiting factor currently. My 2 car garage has 15 ceilings (screaming for a lift) but the wife isnt too keen on it - nor is she keen on purchasing a 3rd vehicle. Shes stingy as hell, but I would 100% rather have that then the polar opposite.
If/when I convince her to buy another 911, I would get a 991.2 GT Touring in Oslo Blue or Irish (I can dream) - then would have the big T and little T to complete the collection.

To have 15' ceilings would be awesome, so much opportunity there.
Best tag line of a car cleaning supplies commercial as the owners all stand in front of their dream cars and name something equally awesome; "Even when you have your dreams car - you still have a dream car."
