Default 991 pdk warning

Long story short 2014 C4S 23,000 mile PDK and I got the dreaded yellow Trans fault poss. no R gear drive on Poss. Brought it immediately into Porsche for service. They have it 3 days and call me and tell me I need a new Trans.
And with a straight face the SA looks at me and says not covered that will 16K please. Are you ******* kidding me?? I paid over 100K for this car new all I did was drive it every day and now you tell me 23K miles I need to spend 16K on a transmission??? WTF?? Oh yes he goes on to tell me we just had a Macon in with 4000 miles with the same condition. This is more common than you think. I say hey Mensa genius is this supposed to make me feel better? So what you are telling me is Porsche makes cars with a tranny that fails very very early so I can spend 16K in your dealer? I am beyond furious. They tell me they are reaching out to PNA to see if they will cover all or part of it. But they doubt it.
OK my question is this. I read the long thread by PV997 about replacing the valve body, as this is most probably the cause of the failure I was going to have capable indie replace it. Has any here done this fix and has fixed the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Man that’s awful! At first I wrote a diatribe condemning Porsche but then I realized everyone here (myself included) knows about Porsche quality and service...yet is crazy enough to still own one. Let’s hope PCNA does the right thing and helps you out.

Another gent here is headed for PDK #3. That’s just an embarrassment for Porsche - but perhaps a sign you should dump the car post repair.

I thought Porsche reliability was quite high overall? Failures do happen though.

I plan on doing just that. This is my second 911. Had to deal with IMS problem on last one. Had that done and the car was great after that. I just cannot believe this of Porsche. I will never buy another Porsche again. Love the car but you cannot tell me a car with 23k miles not abused or raced EVER has the transmission go that early. That is UNACCEPTABLE under any circumstances let alone a car with purchase price north off 100K...That is BS! And their response is BS. Oh well gives up 16K more for the trouble. Like I said I am beyond pissed off.

Than they should make it right and cover it than. 23K major parts should not break.

Out of warranty is out of warranty, I'm not sure what you expected.

There are some shops in So Ca that can repair PDKs. Google it.

I would also ask if for $16k are you getting a new unit or refurbished. If you are getting refurbished ask them to refurbish yours.

The problem with high end cars are high end repair costs, regardless of brand.

Sorry this happened to you. I agree PCNA should step up to the plate. It is not as if this is the only instance of tranny going bad, seems to happen far too often as witnessed here. A problem like this at 23,000 miles is really embarrassing for Porsche.

What do I expect, I expect a 100K plus car to not have a transmission die at 23K miles thats what.
Is that an attempt at humor genius?

^^^ I do agree with that.
Stories like this are why I only own CPO Porsches, once that ends Im gone into a different one. This timeline is also why I dont usually do big mods to these cars.

It's a six year old car that you allegedly drove every day that somehow has 23k miles on it.

That sounds violently abused to me. Did the car ever reach operating temperature in its life?

You bought a car and were made to understand the warranty would run out by a number or miles or a number of months, whichever comes first. I really, really don't understand where the logic is coming from other than "but it's miiiiiine and I waaaaaant it this waaaaay" or some other self-entitled whining.

No reason to be a *****.

The guy is frustrated and there is no need for you to pour salt on the wound. Go do something else with your time.

Welcome to public forums, man. There is no expectation nor obligation for the world to coddle you, particularly when you start kicking and screaming like a self-entitled child.

Congratulations You qualify as a keyboard tough guy. I can guarantee if you saw and met me in person you would not have the stones to say that to my face. I live in a town on Long Island if you want you can come buy and we can discuss how tough you are. Any time! BTW junior 6 years in the USMC and 25 in LE I do not now nor have I ever whined.

I have 4 cars and yes this was driven along with 3 Audis. My wife’s A5 Cab with 49K had a steering column issue and it had to be replaced. It too was out of warranty, no bitching we were ready to pay to have it replaced. We did not even ask. BUT Audi unlike Porsche took responsibilities and said this part should not have worn out and replaced it as good will W/O charging us.

Porsche has had quite a few of the PDK transmissions go south They know there is a problem that is my point.
