What would you do with $80K (911 purchase)

Agree. Drive em all. One will speak to you. I found I'm not a speed guy...I love throttle response. I'd rather have quick than fast. I looked at both 991.1 and 991.2 GTS...and I just didn't love the 991.2 in spite of what I read on the board here. Was faster, but didn't feel as quick.

As I am biased towards the 991.2 turbo engine, my recommendation is this car:
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...ting=281494411
Manual Transmission, 18K miles, *CPO*, options seem decent and $81K. By starting with the turbo .2 motor, you have a lot of options for more power (if you want that) and plenty of exhaust choices out there - must be one that works for you. If you don't need/want power mods, I was really impressed by the torque of the C2 engine with the manual and had a lot of fun driving it around town on a test drive.

interesting that they recently increased the price by 2k. This is very close to my build that I bought last month for 79. CPO, Manual, 18.7k miles, same build month too. Mine had the full leather package with deviated stitching, and color option uptick. I'm not sure what effect these options might have on prices. Is the Omaha market pretty strong?

First of all I would never purposely insult someone's cars. The fact that I spent almost 400K in modifications on just one of the almost 500 cars I have owned would probably be a foreign concept to most of you. People come to me often seeking advise about cars and what to buy, and I always ask them the same questions.
1. What purpose is the car for?
2 What type of driver are you?
3 Features that you must have?
4 What is your budget?
Often the answers to these questions are contradictory (like I want a true sports car but it must have all these comfort features), but they also help someone figure out what will work best for them. I have owned Porsche's longer (45 so far soon 46) than some of you have been alive, but if someone said here is 80K, buy a sports car, it would not be a 911, but I would be answering my own questions. Those answers would be based on my experiences with cars, which different that any of yours and each one of you would answer them based on your experience. To the long time member who is thinking about a Ferrari, I have owned them for over 25 years (and Lamborghini's too), other than the look at me factor, Ferrari's are not great street cars, buy a Alfa 4C, you will get more attention and a car that is in my opinion, the last of its kind. I am looking for a second one right now to take apart and rebuild with a bigger engine. The answer to what sports car I'd buy for 80k Lotus Evora 400 gearshift. Happy Thanksgiving

You're not a purist (like me). You plan to keep a long time (like me). Get the latest model you can afford with the lowest miles. You can definitely get a 991.2 base Carrera with low miles in that range. You can even find one with a little time left on the warranty & possibly CPO. 991.2 base is a great vehicle in that it has plenty of upward tunability should you desire even greater performance.
I would also add that you can still find some 991.2 in manual which I did for myself recently. And with the infotainment system of the 991.2, your car won't seem as out of date a few years from now when you're still able to connect to Carplay and use things like Waze on the main screen.

If my post sounds like it is about me then I missed my point, being autistic and also born without the ability to feel emotion, I look at things from a different angle, and try to give the benefit of my 50 years of experience to others.

Here is what I ended up getting
So after more than 4 months of looking on multiple websites, auctions sites, and talking with multiple individuals, I finally got my car: a 2009 997.2 C2 with just under 35K miles. I found the seller here on Rennlist and had an awesome experience and even made a new friend. The car is in incredible condition and I would not previously believe that an 11-year-old car could look so good. Thank you to everyone who threw in their 2 cents and a shout out to Plycar that delivered my car in perfect condition. If you live in the Dallas area and would like to introduce a newly minted Texan (and 911 owner) to some of the more interesting roads to drive around here then please connect with me.

I live in the DFW area and have a few friends who also own P cars here. Where in DFW do you live? Got some suggestions on back roads. You can PM for that if you’d like.
