Default Exhaust System without crackles & pops for 991 S?

Hi All - Do you know of any aftermarket exhaust systems for the 991 S with an exotic sound that doesn’t have the popping/crackle sound? Preferably with adaptive baffles?

I also read somewhere this is a software config in the 991 S’s, can that be eliminated with tuning?

Thank you!

+1 on confirmation that this is less a function of the exhaust and more a function of the tuning.

Yup - I spent some time on the phone with Softronic and he said that they can either turn off the pops and bangs completely or turn them up to be more aggressive.

Maybe my car is somehow different but leaving it now in normal mode with the exhaust on does exactly that - hardly any pops and bangs and as soon as I hit sport or sport plus it’s fireworks! More fireworks especially in sport plus mode for sure.

For PSE cars, the normal behaviour is to have afterfiring in sport mode (or individual set up to be sport) with PSE turned on. Any other mode, no crackles. PSE off, no crackles.

Yes PSE is the best frivolous money I ever spent.

Great thanks! So that means I could do any exhaust and tube to take out the pops, right? Any suggestions on exhaust or chip tunes?

No. Putting a new exhaust system will not remove the pops and crackles from the tune. That must be removed by either leaving it out of sport mode w/exhaust baffles on, OR by getting a tune that explicitly removes the pops and crackles.

Also keep in mind if you put on a wide open exhaust with a cat delete, regardless of whether or not these synthetic pops and crackles are being called for by your tune you will still get some crackling under specific events -- usually heavy load to decel.

Please email me your pops and crackles. I'll gladly download them into my car.

Lol, what an endorsement! I'm scheduled to get sharkwerks shortly. Coming from an R8 and Gt350, I was a bit of noise.

Totally understandable, sound is subjective. I confirmed today, my appointment for the sharkwerks exhaust install, next Friday. I can't wait to wake up the noise the engine is capable of.

I don't see why not...though, I'll have to think about how to get it home, I presume it won't fit in the interior.
