I think you all are smoking crack to be honest.

My spoiler is always up. (Note: Just wanted some Renllister to say, "This is the water-cooled 911 section, try the air-cooled forum.").

Jesus guys. I was looking for help on changing the spoiler setting, not to get roasted for not wanting it up.

To answer some of your questions:

Yes, its unnecessary for cruising down the freeway at 80mph. Or 90mph. Or probably even 100. It would help with cornering at those speeds, but the car isnt going to get unstable going that slow without the spoiler.

Im sure the Porsche engineers spent a lot of time getting the spoiler just right for performance. I doubt they cared about freeway cruise.

Yes, I care about gas milage. Waste is waste. I got bored on my roadtrip and tested milage with the spoiler up vs down at 74mph. Got a 1.5 MPG difference according to the PCM. Which makes sense because all spoilers do is generate downforce from aerodynamic drag. That number is going to get bigger as speeds get higher. Its cool getting 29 MPG in my C4S at 90. It would be cooler to get 31. I like making fum of my friends for paying less for insurance on my 911 than they do on their subaru outbacks. It would be great to make fun of them for economy since they are both awd too.

Yes, it will increase rear tire wear. Probably not by a lot. But if theres 100lbs of downforce, thats going to be about 5% more weight on the rears and thats not a negligible amount of rear tire wear. Again, waste is waste.

I can see the top 2" or so in my rear view when its up.

No, this isnt that big of a deal. If it was a simple "hey dealer can you set the spoiler speed to 95?" or a simple "sure, just get a durametric" then it would be worth it. I dont care that much.

its an all or nothing thing, unfortunately. Get it coded off if you dont need it or dont track your car.

Is there a balance between "the button is broken" and "I simply can't afford another speeding ticket in my Porsche"

Is there a way to leave it up?

When I'm at a track day, I just want to leave it up for the whole day (mostly for cooling). Then put it back down when done.

What I noticed last time was that the button would put it up, but eventually the car would automatically put it back down.

If you have the mode selector **** on the steering wheel, you can set that up in your "Individual" setting. For example, my "I" mode is set to Sport and spoiler extended.

That's a good tip! However, I use Individual differently, more of a quiet sport for daily driving.

Any other ways to leave it up?

You are missing the big picture. The spoiler deploys at the speed it does for reason. If you have to perform an unexpected avoidance maneuver at high speed on the highway that deployed spoiler just might save your life.

There is no one here that hates to see a spoiler up than me, especially when parked but it does not look pretty when up either (glad I cannot see it); however, it must have a purpose so I just pretend it is down when driving.

Y'know, I thought that at one point. Then I noticed it deployed at a lower speed due to heat. :P

I'm still scratching my head as to how y'all can see it when it's up. I must be super short in comparison. I've tried to look for it from time to time without any luck. In fact, I've just gone with blind faith that it is - in fact - working.

I don’t believe that I’ve ever been able to see my spoiler through the rear view mirror. But it’s not too difficult for me to see through the driver’s side view mirror.

Quick Reply: Is it possible to change the speed at which the rear spoiler deploys?
